Open Books Floating Window
Greetings,
I don't know if this is the right platform to ask about a feature that may make life a little simpler in L8.
Allow me: sometimes I have as many as 20 books open in one layout. Not counting searches, and other search windows. When I start a research on a topic, I start with one or two books. At the end of the day, I have over 20 books open. I do have 4 monitors, so I can distribute my books around. However, looking for books becomes the time consuming feature of research in L8, especially when books are hidden behind other books. And sometimes I cannot find that particular paragraph that I read last night in this book or was it the other one? Then I end up rearranging my books, moving tabs around. Before you know it, time has passed by. Am I the only one having this challenge? If so, someone please tell me how to avoid building up a maze within a layout.
But, then I thought to myself. What if, a floating window directory of all open books is accessible when I need a particular book open, all I do is to click on it? The book chosen will pop up in front of all other windows. Then when I'm finished, all I do is to close the book and the book goes back to the tab it was in. But it's still in the open book directory. If I want the book closed permanently, I use the directory to close book. Wow... (I realize that Windows has the Alt-Window key, but that is not what I'm looking for).
It starts like this: the minute I open a book, a floating window will pop up and show my the book open. At the end of the day, if I wanted to find that book with that really good piece of information, all I have to do is to look at the floating window directory of all open books, and they are arranged in alphabetical order so all I do is to click, and behold, the book comes up front and opened. When I open another book, it is added to the open book directory.
This way, I do not have hunt around, just look at the directory. Am I dreaming of a feature that is not possible? I think it's possible. And it's practical.

Curious if Tools => History provides a desired workaround ? (Hovering mouse over entry pop-ups last reading location in a resource)

Slightly more labour intensive, you can drag your books into the Favorites tool, which preserves location last read (or use Add to get the current tab). You can create a hierarchy of folders quite easily to ease navigation. You might have to delete the previous entry for a book (different location), but you can rename the entry to suit your purpose.

I'm probably missing the goal, but I keep a large layout of all my frequent use resources ... over a 150 or so on 5 windows. As you can imagine they tile small, and with multiple tabs. But when I want one, a click on the tab, and an F11 pops it full screen for use. Then another F11 to pop it back to its home.
Since I use several Bible platforms, I keep the others similarly organized.
At least my solution.

Using history does not work for me in this level of usage. I've used "History" several times, but it's not what I'm looking for...

Currently History shows location(s) in all resources (in reverse chronological order). Curious about opinion of a History filter for open resource(s) ?
