Searching Hebrew numbers

I wanted to search for all times the number 12 is mentioned in the Old Testament. In Hebrew this is written as two separate words like "two and ten." I tried the following search:

<Lemma = lbs/he/עֶשְׂרֵה> WITHIN 1 WORDS <Lemma = lbs/he/שְׁנַ֫יִם>

I only get hits for my Hebrew Bibles, but normally this kind of search will display results for reverse interlinear Bibles as well. I suspect it has to do with the fact that the English translation only has one word (twelve) that corresponds to the two Hebrew words (two and ten). Or is there another reason? Just in case, I already tried increasing to 2 words of separation without any success.

Is there a way to do this search that shows results in the interlinear Bibles? Besides being helpful for this particular search, it seems like this might be an opportunity to understand better how WITHIN 1 WORDS is calculated for an interlinear Bible.

Your suspicion is correct. By default, WITHIN doesn't allow overlapping words. You can relax this restriction with the following query: <Lemma = lbs/he/עֶשְׂרֵה> WITHIN 0-1 WORDS <Lemma = lbs/he/שְׁנַ֫יִם>

I don't have my PC online, but on the interlinear, it's often easier to switch over to morph-search using string 'lemma:XX BEFORE 4 CHARS lemma:YY' where XX and YY are the respective hebrew.

I assume you're checking the several versions of translated 'twelve'.

Okay, I guess I should have tried 0 words, but I figured surely that wouldn't work. Zero seems to pull it up fine. Is there an advantage to using "0-1" as opposed to 0?

Even if you amend the Search to WITHIN 0-1 WORDS, you don't get all occurrences of 12 (ordinal + cardinal).

Try <H8147> WITHIN 0-1 CHARS <H6240> which uses Hebrew Strongs numbers in Reverse Interlinear bibles.

0 CHARS/WORDS allows for one word translating two hebrew words in RI's. 1 CHARS/WORDS allows for use in a Hebrew bible.

Also consider doing the search in a Hebrew Bible in order to get accurate relative word positions and then adding your reverse interlinear Bible to the results for viewing purposes.

If you have the Weights and Measures in the Bible Dataset you can to a label search like this:

{Label Measure where Number = 12}

It won't find all 12's though, just those that have a unit of measure attached.
