Amazon Fire HD10 Won't Run Mobile App

I am very confused and concerned, but that comes with age.  I have an Amazon Fire and cannot run the Logos app on the device. When I go to the Amazon App location, it simply says my device is not compatible. The fire is an HD10, 7th generation, running FireOS 5.6.6.0. When I called support, I got the canned answer that this is an issue that Amazon won't approve the app. As I search the forums, this looks like an ongoing issue for some time, so I asked for a manager (hoping for more than a canned answer), but was told they were busy and I would be transferred to voicemail. I was placed back in the automated queue and hung up after about 5 minutes.

It appears some people have made this app work on the HD10 and if so I would appreciate your help. It is possible the issue is the version of Fire OS, but I cannot get that answer.

I am not here to rant, but have been with Logos for 16 years and have an investment that is above 5 figures. I have always loved the software, but recently am concerned with their level of support and customer service. There is not a lot of options for an alternative program and I am too far into this financially to swap even if there was. Logos on a desktop is great, but the lack of a true tablet-friendly platform, family sharing, or even answers from the help desk concerns me. If they were to go away, I don't even have paper books to fall back on.

Thank you for your time.

Fire OS 5.x was released in 2014. It's six years old, and no longer supported by Logos.

These Fire tablets are low cost devices. If you want to continually use the Logos app on them, I don't think there's any way around buying a new device every 4 to 5 years or so (and do make the purchases right after the release of a new FireOS version, so you don't get a brand new device whose OS is outdated when it hits the market).

Overall, I'd say it's still more affordable to buy a new Fire tablet for $50 to $150 every 4 years than buying a new Samsung or Apple tablet every 6 to 8 years for a lot more than that. I know that not everyone here on the forum agrees with that though.

Now, as for running Logos on your HD10, I know of two options, neither of which is officially supported by Logos.

The easier way forward would be to install an old version of the app.

(You'd need the "last version with Android 5.0 support.)

The riskier option is rooting the device, removing FireOS, and installing CyanogenMod instead. Warning: there's serious risk that you might brick the tablet.

Thank you, Jan. I appreciate the input and answers.

The tablet was purchased about 8 months ago, but it is likely Bestbuy sold us an older one as it is a 7th gen.  To be honest, I am just looking for a reading app to take with me as the idea of having my $2,000 tablet ripped off is not appealing.

    I sincerely appreciate the ideas

Wow, they sold you a very old device.... [:S]

Eight months ago, 9th gen was the most recent. By now, 10th gen has been released (Fire HD 8), with FireOS 7.

Seems like you've already been ripped off (but luckily not off your expensive tablet).

I also bought a Kindle HD10 about the same time. It is 7th Gen running FireOS 5.6.6.0. I got frightened when I read a post about older versions of Android OS being depricated so I bought a 9th Gen.

I am surprised that the 7th Gen is still running several Faithlife Apps - Logos, FSB, Proclaim Remote, Faithlife Groups, Bible Screen.

Making Disciples!  Logos Ecosystem = Logos10 on Microsoft Surface Pro 7 (Win11), Android app on tablet, FSB on iPhone, Proclaim (Proclaim Remote on Fire Tablet) &  FaithlifeTV via Connect subscription.
