Right Click Menu Options + Right Click Menu Instruction

I have two questions relating to the right click menu. First, can it be customized? I find many of the options redundant for my purposes. Second, is there a video anyone can recommend on the right click in Logos 8. I find myself confused, not sure what everything means.

No, it currently can't be customized.

I seem to remember suggestions about providing a "lite" version but there is no such feature at the moment

    Have a look at https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/360016600052-Context-Menu

Please post back with any further questions you have on this.

Thank you. That video was helpful for getting me started. Still a little confused by some of the different searches and copy options.

Still a little confused by some of the different searches and copy options.

The way I try and approach them is to just focus on the thing I am trying to do:

    • Am I interested in searching for / copying a lemma, a person, a sense, a propositional outline etc
    • Do I want to conduct a Bible search, an inline search, a morph search etc

That can help to find a way through!

I will keep at it! Thanks.

If you're not sure what a specific item on the left side means, you can select it then look at the top of the right side for the meaning (of the icon).

No, it currently can't be customized.

Graham is right that the left side can't be customized, but some of the specific choices that can appear on the right side (such as lexicons or dictionaries) are based on the resources you prioritized in your library.

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

    That's very helpful thanks.

I think in my decade using Logos, I have used 3 choices: search all resources, search this resource, and lexicons. Then, on the other side, lemmas, and selection. All the other stuff is fine, but for much of that decade, I dutifully had to 'scroll down' over and over (and over), so Logos could show off another feature I had no need for.

It's interesting that Logos hates customizing the right-click so much. I could be wrong, but almost every app I often use, lets me customize menus.  Apparently, it speeds things up.

I tend to agree. Just to give a small illustration. I use Logos mainly for translation and language study. I have attached an image which gives some idea of the features I do not ever use in a right-click menu:

That is a very interesting illustration, thanks.

Comparing that to my own usage I see that we have some in common (I rarely use them either) but some you show as not used are ones that I use daily.

So I think this means that any move towards customisation needs to allow each of us to apply our own customisations as opposed to the "lite" idea I mentioned above that would provide the same cut-down functionality for everyone.

You have laid out the issue very well: customisation over lite.
