BUG: Interlinear default options

It seems strange to me that when I open an interlinear and open the display options menu, it does not show any items checked but they are displayed.

That's because they are seperate.. the top one controls the full window, and has no effect on the small panel, thats by design to keep everyone happy who misses full interlinear from Logos3, the bottom one you adjust by right clicking in the LHS where it saya Surface/Mss etc..
I hope they are never related (both have their seperate uses)
I think Logos have this right..

Agreed, but I can see how it could cause confusion. If even Martha was confused, then it is likely to confuse newbies. Maybe just adding a line of text such as "Display inline:" at the top of the menu when it is dropped down would solve the confusion. Excuse the sloppiness; I didn't have time to do this nicely:

Weird construction of function. One would expect:
1) a function which chooses: no interlinear, interlinear embedded (full page), interlinear below
2) a function which chooses what elements to display in the interlinear
This seems to be an overly complicated interface for a simple function. Even "interlinear" as a switch name becomes meaningless when we have two switches "display" and "interlinear" which both mean "interlinear - guess how I display"

I agree. The Display drop-down and Interlinear switch + Panel drop down is non-intuitive. A single button would do the job assuming that both forms are not allowed as per 1).

I see no need to have both the inline display and the panel showing at the same time. I like Martha's suggestions #1 and #2 above.

There is a simplicity to using a single drop down for both functions that I like.

That is what I agreed with (although that was not explicit with regard to what I quoted)! I just added that only a single button would be necessary under those conditions.

I wasn't disagreeing with you, I was agreeing with you. I should have said "I agree. I see no need to...." Arggh. Dumb computer communication. It never says what I'm thinking in my head!

I guess the problem was I was really adding a second agreement with Martha to yours, not agreeing specifically with the rest of what you said beyond "I agree" (though I had no beef with it), so I should have responded to Martha's post rather than yours. Sorry for the confusion.
