Any idea as to when Logos 9 might arrive?
Probably one day after the cutoff for my big purchases in 8 to count as credit for 9 š
Probably this Fall sometime. Here are the release dates since Logos 4:
Logos 4.0 SR-3 -- Tue, Nov 3 2009
Logos 5.0 SR-2 -- Thursday, November 1, 2012
Logos 6.0 -- Monday, October 27, 2014
Logos 7.0 -- Monday, August 22, 2016
Logos 8.0 -- Monday, October 29, 2018
Note that Logos 7 was an early bird--the rest are in the late October-early November range. There are no guarantees, however.
š Thanks for looking that up, though like you said, itās no guara tee

Ha.
I personally don't care ... I'm still on W7. Ā But if FL were trying to expand its academic footprint, a late start-over (faculty/students with L9) would be counter-productive. Especially, with FL's 80% development policy.
Then, there's revenue considerations in a Covid environment. Employee families like to eat. One could speculate Proclaim product lines might be doing well; maybe some low-end losses. Book sales, likely suffering the summer blues. And management-lines limping along. Ā Then, there's the under-marketed sales .... 'here's some good deals ... buy if you just have to'.
OTOH, there's the traditional clue ... missing star people, who get enlisted to try to rescue development designs. And the contra clue, no subject-specific collection sale yet.
I'd bet (no money) late August, early Sept.Ā
Last time a salesman "hustled" me to buy a great onetime only deal; I said I was waiting for logos9 before I made any more big purchases and he said that it might be delayed because of the covid affair; however he probably would say something like that wouldn't he!Ā

Well, I was thinking of when I made a late upgrade to 7, they gave me credit when 8 came out due to the recent nature of my purchase. (Looks like it was 8/2/18, and I purchased 8 on 10/29/18 with a large credit)
he said that it might be delayed because of the covid affair
'Might'. That's a clear semantic indication the speaker was deflecting from non-implied sub-surface knowledge markers. (Practicing to be a scholar.)Ā [:D]

What I call a definite maybe.
HA! Now that sounds like my "luck".Ā
I hate to say this, but, then again, no I dont. When I first learned of Logos it was 3. I'm not wealthy. I was not wealthy then. Actually, I was less than a year from unemployment, of the devestating type, and making below poverty level income. I had been purchasing digital Bibles for several years, and ran into Logos and Bible Works. I asked if logos would be doing an upgrade soon. I was told, pretty much a skirt-around the truth type of response. Basically, he had no idea of there being an upcoming upgrade, and if there was, I would never have to worry because Logos would always be compatible.Ā Well, while that may be kinda somewhat true, it's far from true, at the same time. Within 3 or 4 months, L-4 came out. And, there was no "recent upgrade discounts" then. Or, if there were, they had no interest in divulging that information.Ā So, yes. I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that they would say something like that.Ā Oh, and for the record: not only did they have knowledge of 4 coming soon, they were already in the works for L6 at that time! (which shocked the devil's future home out of me, btw). Hmmm. that may mean they are already working on L-11 or 12 now.Ā

If I take a very generous interpretation of your statement (e.g., some departments or individuals in Faithlife were planning or building data sets that eventually shipped in a Logos 6 base package, or working on acquiring resources that took 5+ years to go through contract negotiations) then this mightĀ possibly be true. (But I doubt it.)
If I take a strict interpretation (we were coding Logos 6 features or, prior to Logos 4 we were building a roadmap for Logos 6 that wouldn't ship for another five years) then there's absolutely no truth to this.
Hmmm. that may mean they are already working on L-11 or 12 now.Ā
Yeah no.
If I were to post, "I'm guessing tomorrow!" on a daily basis, eventually I'd probably be right. Today is a Saturday, so I'd probably be wrong if I posted that today.
Any idea as to when Logos 9 might arrive? If I were to post, "I'm guessing tomorrow!" on a daily basis
If I were to post, "I'm guessing tomorrow!" on a daily basis
If I were to tell you, "it will ship at noon on one weekday in the following week but the launch will be a surprise to you" ... does that mean the launch will never occur at all?

Clearly not on WEDNESDAY! [:D]
Has anyone watched the new tutorial videos on YouTube? The interface is changed in several ways. Iāve only used logos 8 so Iām not sure if itās a new version or not.
Which is precisely why I don't "upgrade"; and I don't want to be freight loaded with resources I'll never use just to justify level compatibility between versions.
Okay, I am totally confused. While there are features that require specific datasets to work, with a few exceptions (I can remember one in the last decade) updating of resources is not required for the change of features and interfaces. That is why there are three ways to update when a major change in the user interface occurs:
Iāve only used logos 8 so Iām not sure if itās a new version or not.
They cannot be a newer version than the latest version of Logos 8 - which is usually updated every 6 weeks. Logos 9 is not available. It is more likely that they are a prior version or that you are responding to the user's customization.

does anyone know what version this is?

It was produced under Logos 7 - it is one of a number (collected together atĀ https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/360030515792-Resource-Videos)Ā
since They just published these MANY tutorials to their yuutube, can we make the assumption that Logos 9 is not coming out soon? Why would they produce/publish so many tutorials for L8 to be out of date in only a couple of months?
I wonder if the drying up of Logos Beta test versions means anything?
Shalom
That, and watch for a lonely 'Release Candidate 1' of 8.16 shipping on an unusual day of the week.
I wonder if a general Labor Day sale and the 25% (30% to some) BP discount is a clue. I'm still betting on Nov. 3.[;)]

I think it was released yesterday
