newbie questions that I cannot find an answer to...
Hello all! I’m new to Logos but not new to Bible software. I have some questions about possible changes to the behavior that I’m getting while I learn to use Logos 8. if it matters, I’m using the full engine on a Windows PC.
1. Let’s say that I have five (or eight or twenty!) tabs open, each to a different Bible passage, all in the ESV. Is there a way to make each tab (both active and inactive) show the chapter and verse rather than “ESV?” It would be way more useful to know which passage which was in which tab than to know the translation of the tab.
2. when i do a search, let’s say a bible search either using the search tool or the top search bar, and various passages pop up. If i click the chapter and verse reference in the search, is there any way to make the program to automatically open the Bible reference in a new tab instead of always replacing one of my tabs? currently, it always seems to replace an existing tab with the clicked link and its driving me crazy. When I study, I never want clicking anything in a window to replace anything that i have open in a tab, but to always open in a new tab.
thanks in advance for the help!
Robert

No, but I could see how that could be useful!

Well, I don't think so. Another good idea! I would have thought that a "control click" (on Mac) would have done so.

I didn't know that (same on Windows). I also don't want existing tabs impacted. I've been dragging-dropping for 10 years. I'm exhausted.

Welcome [:D]
An idea is entering command for opening a Bible to a desired location: e.g. open esv to 1th5.13 (hovering mouse over command suggestion shows verse in a pop-up) followed by dragging command to desired tab location (gray box appears to show tab placement)

Dragging a search result can be dropped into desired location.

On the Tab = No while arrangement of Tabs can show location within Tab:
Years ago learned keeping fewer Tabs open has faster responsiveness (while knowing how to quickly open more tabs as desired). Tabs have individual history so can go forward/backward using < > along with showing history by clicking triangle

thank you all for the helps! So, It looks like that I’m stuck with dragging references instead of clicking them and clicking through numerous scripture tabs to remember which is which...
Another question that has come up is say, I’m reading something in an English translation that has footnotes, like the NET Bible. is there a way for the footnotes to come up in a window of their own other than a hover, pop up? for example to be able to copy and paste the footnote or to highlight it? Clicking on the footnote number doesn’t open it anywhere else.

No, but if you are in "paged view" (one or more columns, rather than "scrolling view"), you can set the footnotes to appear at the bottom of the page:
The footnotes you see are not visible like this in scrolling view.

You can't highlight footnotes. You can't copy footnotes in the view I just described. The only advantage is that you can read the highlights without having to "open" them. If you need to copy a footnote, you'll need to be in scrolling view and click on the footnote. You can select and copy the text at that point.

Docs menu can create a Passage List:
Clicking Bible Reference in Passage List opens/positions Bible:

NET Bible includes a Bible Notes resource => The NET Bible (text and notes) so NET Bible Notes can be in their own Tab (or in Multi-View, like Geneva: Notes - my demonstration account does not have the NET Bible). Changing a Tab to Reading View using column(s) allows Footnotes to appear: e.g. King James Version has many footnotes with clickable Bible links
FYI: pre-publication => NET Bible: Full Notes, 2nd ed. is in production (so not know when will be available for use)

Ah, thanks for the tip! i didn’t realize that they treated the Net notes as a separate resource. Thank you!
