New Wordsearch books being added to Logos
We are beginning to ship out some of the new books that weren't available in the Logos library. A few notes:
- We wanted to get these books out and available to Wordsearch users as soon as possible. Rather than wait until the book was a complete Logos resource to ship it, we decided to batch create and ship Faithlife ebook versions that we will update to Logos resources. These ebooks will have basic functionality but not all the tagging that comes in a Logos resource (because they are batch produced, they could contain typos or strange formatting). We will begin work immediately to update these resources. We plan to have them all updated by the end of 2020. Edit: See https://community.logos.com/forums/p/193938/1125810.aspx#1125810 for an update on timing.
- This is the first batch of many. If you're waiting for a book and don't see it, it's coming in a future batch.
- If you already own a license in Wordsearch, you'll see them start to populate in your library. If you don't own a Wordsearch license, it's not yet possible to purchase them from Logos.com. We're working to get product pages up for them in the near future.
We're very excited to add these titles to the library and are looking forward to adding many more.

Thank you Ben, and thanks Logos for the nice dynamic list https://www.logos.com/wordsearch-library-migration
Question: When a book flips from ebook to full Logos resource, will the above page be updated?
Thanks FL!

That page has moved to https://www.logos.com/wordsearch/library-migration and it will be updated automatically as it's driven from our resource database.
Thank You for moving quickly to get our resources to us in Logos. I have a question. I owned the second edition of Jesus and the Gospels by Craig Blomberg in Wordsearch. Logos carries the same book yet it was bought over as an e-book. May i ask why Logos went that route instead of just giving me the Logos Book?

This was an error in aligning the Wordsearch and Logos catalogues. It's been fixed now, so the Logos Edition should download to your library. Thanks for reporting it!
Hi Bradley,
I have another one: The Sermon on the Mount: The Message of the Kingdom came over as an e-book. I owned it as part of the preaching the word commentary in Wordsearch. On Logos.com it shows i need to by it. Can this be fixed or is this a mismatch that must wait? Thanks!

This was incorrectly linked to a retired Ebook version we had of that title. It's now been switched to unlock the Logos Research edition instead.
thanks for the clarification.
Well, it's been an adventure, and I have gone through some ups and downs in the process, but the Logos staff and community have been great and I look forward to a long future together.
As has already been said, Thanks for getting us moved over so quickly and working so hard to get our libraries available
Very few of my Wordsearch books appear. Do I need to do something to start the migration?
Where are they not appearing? Does your library of Wordsearch title appear here - https://www.logos.com/wordsearch/library-migration if you login with the email account associated with your Logos account? Are they appearing on that webpage, but not in the Library tab in your Logos program? These "not appear" situations have very different causes.

Dave, when I click on the link you provided I get this message
Your Wordsearch library isn’t in Logos yet.
Yet if I go to my WordSearch library and click on McGee's Thru the Bible, it takes me to that resource in the Logos catalogue and shows that I do not own it but can purchase it for $333.99. The same is true of other resources that I own in WordSearch.

If I replaced "Yet" with "Consequently" in your post, it would make sense to me. If your Wordsearch library isn't in Logos yet, Logos isn't going to show that you own the books in it.

Your Wordsearch account used a different email address. As per https://blog.wordsearchbible.com/2020/09/24/9-reasons-you-might-not-see-your-books-yet-and-what-to-do-about-it/, this means your accounts aren't linked automatically.
I've merged your WS account into your Faithlife account, so your licenses and books should be showing up now.
Has anyone received their Ryrie Study Notes?
No. This is listed as 0:723 at https://www.logos.com/wordsearch/catalog and is "Not Started".
Update: It looks like we do have this resource in Logos, so we've unlocked the corresponding Logos edition.

Great! But for some reason, it is not downloading into my Logos library.
My most important purchase with Wordsearch was "The Complete Bible Library" (both old and new Testaments). This is besides all the other books that were part of my Wordsearch 10 Library.
In your opinion, when will I begin to see these books and Library transfers into my Logos account?
Thank you,
Joseph Luna
Bradley,
Noticed that the migration of books has slowed somewhat.
Nothing for a couple days now. But Thats ok.]
However, any idea how long before I get the following which I own:
(1)Mattoon's Treasures - Old and New Testament
(2)NIV New Testament Commentary - by Standard Publishing
The other 250 books still out there I am not so worried about, but I sure miss the above two collections.
Use them quite often, especially Mattoon's..
Thanks,
Mark Johns

OK, a lot of WS resources need to be integrated into Logos and that will take time.
It seems that Logos is waiting until they have a lot done before they download the final versions. Is it possible they can download them as they get them?
If they finish 5 books a week, can they download those 5?
Many WS commentaries, for example, are listed as monographs. Not helpful if you are looking for those commentaries.
Thank you

It is their standard practice to release as they go. What makes you think they won't?

WS is still operational so I would continue to use that until your resources get switched over. Logos is doing their best. Switching resources to commentaries takes time as verses and milestones need to be annotated as well as the resource viewed in its entirety to make sure it is acceptable. No easy task.
I was happy when the two merged, because I wasn't using WS as much.
But my question still remains.
I would rather they downloaded a few books a week rather than 200 at one time.
There are so many books, I am sure they are completing several a week.
Hi Larry,
If you open up the Program Settings in Logos and scroll down to the Internet section you can turn Download New Resources to No. Now the resources will still show up in your library, but they won't take up space on your HardDrive. You can then download the ones you want.
As far as when resource updates are published, resource updates are shipped every two weeks and done in a batch. They don't ship them one at a time or a few at a time.
I hope this helps,
Philana
Patience is something I don't use very often. But I waited and continued to use WS until about a week or so ago. Now most of my stuff works in Logos....Some books have not been started yet... but I already see a lot of work has gone on. Thanks.
I started back with QuickVerse with Craig Rearden... and it is amazing how Bible software has evolved. Love it!!

Hi all,
I wanted to provide a quick update on the status of updating Wordsearch books to Logos editions. While we planned/hoped to have these updates complete by the end of 2020, it's looking like we probably won't make that date. The process is going to be a bit more complex than anticipated and our production pipeline is a bit fuller than we expected.
We're going to prioritize upgrading books with heavier markup and deeper integration in the software (reference works, commentaries, etc).
I'll keep you updated as things move forward.
Thanks!

Thanks, I'm sure everyone has their "pet" but I have to make a shameless plug for "Thompson-Chain Reference Libraries"
I know the interest in forums has been significant, and many of us who own it in Wordsearch12 are missing it
I agree with the Flanary's.... sure do miss Thompsons Chain Reference. I know things take time.... and I'm sure looking forward to using it. Thanks for the hard work.

I’ve used Thompson Chain since 1983. So I fully get why people like it!
I also do NOT "have an ax to grind" about forcing WS users to adapt to Logos--I have used BOTH programs for nearly 2 decades.
i realize Logos has a steep learning curve and those who have become comfortable in the WS system have familiar workflows. Here is my personal opinion (you are free to disagree!) WS built largely on the organization system of Strong’s numbers and Thompson’s cross-reference. The metadata that Logos implements through reverse Interlinear makes searching on the actual Hebrew and Greek words possible. Logos also has robust cross-reference database and thematic tagging that overlaps Thompson’s original goal in creating his chains. I am NOT standing in the way of getting resources based upon the Strong’s and Thompson’s systems! I just want to suggest that Logos has other tools that can lead to very similar final products if one is willing to learn new paths.

I always thought it was an over ambitious timeline for the resources to be done correctly. Thanks for updating Ben.

I appreciate the number of resources already converted. But I have noticed that many are coming over without authors being added. When I was searching for a number of books by author they did not show up. I then found them later by title and no author was given. It does not appear we have the ability to add this kind of data to the books. We are only allowed to change or add tags.

And titles, short titles, and series. All those won't help when you filter for the author-field, but should be mentioned. But if you get more precise and add a list of books and authors, Faithlife may correct the metadata of these resources (mostly eBooks in my library) quite easily.
Have joy in the Lord!
Are you able to tell me when "Spiritual Warfare, A Biblical Point of View" would be transferred from WordSearch to my Logos account? Thank you.
I don't see that title listed at https://www.logos.com/wordsearch/catalog. What is the Book ID in Wordsearch? (Right-click the book in the Library and choose "Properties".)

I saw a bunch of new Wordsearch titles download tonight - thanks! - and note that they are mostly still epubs or Logos Reader editions, so obviously still WIP.
However, the AMG Comprehensive Dictionaries of Old Testament & New Testament Words came across classified as Dictionaries, in Logos Research editions. Are these being considered complete? They lack quite a bit of the functionality of the corresponding Wordsearch ebooks:
They don't appear to have a headword index; outlining elements are lacking for complex entries; the Hebrew text of the entry is not given after the morphology that follows the transliteration (the Greek is there for the NT); the Strong's G/H number following that is not hot linked; other associated headwords given in the article are not hot linked; even the Scriptural references are not hot linked (!). The second parts (i.e. reverse dicts) are similarly unlinked.
Is it safe to assume these are still WIP despite being formatted as full Logos resources?
John W Gillis....
From my experience, I suggest you check your WS to Logos Transition page and see if it says "Available" for that book. If it does, then Logos is through with it... and probably won't touch it again unless someone brings up problems with the book. Which is what you are doing.
I had this problem with a book in my WS library. It showed up "Available" and had errors. I could not search it in Logos but could in WS. I brought to their attention and they changed the "Available" to "Not Started".
We WS people need to help Logos by checking our books and reporting problems. I know from my experience that Logos is trying and we should all appreciate that even though in the mass of work they have to do... they still make mistakes. If we let them know... they will correct their mistakes.

Yes; these are not done. They had their "Edition" set incorrectly to "Logos Research" instead of "Ebook". We'll update that to avoid confusion.
Thanks Ben!
