Cards on Dashboard
I'm going through the quick start videos. He had us set up a card on the dashboard. I thought I wouldn't need the Word Study card. SOOO now I want to try that and I can't remember how to set the card up on my dashboard. What am I missing. I've tried the menus but there is no listing for Word Study to choose.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi Phyllis. If I understand you correctly, this is how I added a Hebrew word study to my dashboard.
1. Press the + arrow and select "Layout".
.
2. Select the word study that you want and hit the "Add" button.

Thanks Rick yes that is what I was looking for and what I tried. But apparently I don't have all the choices the teacher has. Thank you.

I have a similar problem. The Topic Study layout is not available when I try to add a dashboard layout card.

Hi Phyllis and Dave
Do you see the Layouts you are interested in in the Quickstarts Menu - accessible from the Layouts menu?
See https://community.logos.com/forums/t/129249.aspx for a description of this and what they should look like?

Thanks David. I thought it was just me and I missed something.

Yes I see it but Word Study is not under QuickStart. I click on it and it bounces me back to me study page I set up and nothing shows on the HomePage for it.

Sorry Phyllis but what are you clicking on?
Are you able to provide a screenshot (upload using the paperclip icon in the forum editor) showing what you are seeing?

As you can see, the QuickStart Layouts section of the Layout menu does not include the Topic study. It does appear in the Home Page Layouts section.
However, if I try to add the Topic layout to my Dashboard, it does not show up as an option:

Hi, Graham,
As you can see from attached screenshot #1 the QuickStart Layouts section of the Layouts menu does not include the Topic Study layout.
It does show up, though in the Home Page Layouts section of that menu.
When I try to add the Topic Study layout to my Dashboard, it does not show up in the available options, as seen in screenshot #2. Screenshot #3 shows what my Dashboard looks like.
Thanks for your help!

Hi Dave
Thanks for the screenshots - very helpful.
For an item to be an option for adding a card it needs to be one of the Quickstart Layouts.

I tihnk this is due to licence levels - but I'm not sure.
Hopefully someone will be able to clarify

I'm part of the heard of WordSearch users being migrated over and stumbling around.
I found this workaround:
- Open the Topic Study layout
- Click the Layout button again
- "Save as named Layout" in the right side of the Layout panel (top item) - "Topic Study - Mine"
Now this new layout will appear in the Saved Layouts list and you'll be able to add it to the Dashboard.

Thanks John. I called Support yesterday and they told me that some of the old Quick Start Videos are no longer viable. The software doesn't work. Whew I thought I was just so confused I couldn't figure it out. Apparently headquarters understands that things need to be updated especially with WordSearch people coming into the program. Don't know when videos will be updated, but it sure would help since they have updated the programs.
I did what you suggested. Thanks for the idea.

I expect there will be new training videos when(ever) Logos/Verbum 9 comes out.

John, thanks for the suggestion about making a custom layout. That did work for me.
I, too, am one of the many WordSearch users trying to figure out Logos. So far I am impressed by the powerful features, but disappointed by the bugginess of the SW (it has crashed several times) as well as the inconsistency of the training materials.

Does "SW" mean "software"? In any case, please report these crashes in the Logos 8 forum so that whatever is causing them can be discerned and fixed.

Yes, SW means software.
The crashes were random when I was playing around with Logos while watching a training video. I did not know how to reproduce the problem, so I did not post about them. I have since downloaded the Logos Logging utility so that if another crash occurs I can upload a diagnostic log to tech support.

Yes I had several crashes or "unexpected quits" as my operating system calls them. It seems to have stopped but we'll see. Thanks for the info that we should place that info in the forums.
