Reading Books Offline
Apple has approved version 1.2, which supports limited offline reading. For some reason they've done this while we're not at work... so, I'll work on a better tutorial tomorrow morning. Till then, here is the quick "my wife is waiting on me to start the movie" version:
First, make sure you're connected to the internet via wifi or your carrier.
Second, open your library.
Third, click on the blue arrow next to the title you want to read offline.
Fourth, click the "Available Offline" option to on.
Fifth, Click "done"
Sixth, You should see an orange arrow indicating that Logos is downloading the resource.
Once the resource is completely downloaded, it will give you a confirmation message.
After the book is completely downloaded, it will be viewable in your library offline
Like I said, this is just a quick demo of how to get your books onto your iPod or iPhone for offline viewing. I'll try to get a better demo up tomorrow.

All books are now available for download if you have the license.
Books that don't work:
Summa Theologica (English)
Church Administration
131 Christians Everyone Should Know
Comical Doctrine
Just so you know, these all (except summa, which I don't have in my library) work for me. I can download them. One thing that you might want to make sure is that you are not trying to swipe the button. It seems a little finicky. If you tap the button it works better than trying to swipe it.
INTERESTING! Kevin- do your books have their covers also or are they also "No cover"?
The three of the four I have do not have icons. But the download switch is active.

I too have many books that are on my desktop, but are not on my itouch. I am running 1.2.2 of the software... can someone clarify that all logos resources are on the itouch? What is being said and what is reality are two different things here.
Thanks
Kelly
last week it was said that logos was making the books available as soon as the publisher was allowing it. Northwestern publishing has given the ok for Sermon Studies on Selected Psalms - Northwestern Publishing House as it already in the list, but the other 9 books of that set are not listed... is this to mean that they gave the ok for 1 of 10, or did someone miss the ok? I use the books, well 3 at time for a year, every week... these are quite important to me, any idea as to what is happening with them? What about the life application bible commentary's? thanks for your help.

I found this interesting - since I have a lot of Concordia Publishing House resources - and there is only one title available from them. (I think Northwestern may have one or two others.) I wonder if a number of publishers were convinced to give Logos a trial book or two so they could see it on the iPhone app before allowing wider permissions. I am hoping that both Northwestern and CPH clear more titles.

I cant say that you are wrong here Tom, but if that is the case, why give the rights to the least used book of all their logos books? I just hope that they get these other 9 comentarys on the app, as well as the life application series... these are main things that I use for sermon prep that are not already on the app.

It's not just about rights. Some public domain books are not yet available or have only just become available. The Theological Journals have also been given permission, but are not yet available. I guess some manual work is required as well, and we're also waiting for that.

The theological journals have permission? WOW you've made my day!
I am using version 1.2.2. I have downloaded several books (I have an ipod with 60 gigabytes), most of which is available. After several downloads, the program just kicks me out. However, a few books seem to have downloaded if I can believe the jet plan icon on the book list. When I go offline and click on my library, only a few of the books are actually accessible, less than the number of books marked with a jet plane icon. I never got the message on any of them saying , xxxx is now available offline. However, while I was downloading, I did see a download icon, which then changed to the jet plane icon.
James, it would be helpful if you could send a crash report. Thanks.

I am a Logos 4 owner, am signed in on my ipod touch and have tried repeatedly to tap the "available offline" to "on" on several books that all say they are available offline. The only one I can get to work is the NLT. I am trying to get La Biblia de las Americas, but it simply will not work. Any help?
Rachel, if the switch is grayed out it means you do not have a license for the resource. La Biblia de las Americas is one of the resources we make available for free on the iPhone, even if you don't have a license, but you still need a license to download it. If there are books you have in Logos 4 and on the iPhone, but can't download on the iPhone, please let me know.
I love this thing, but I always want more! Does anyone know of a way to get the selected books from our Library to sync over the cable connection (like the Logos App itself does in Itunes Store)? I have no problem doing it the way over the WiFI, it just takes time, and I am impatient (I do pray about it.).
Karen, not sure what you are asking for.
What do you mean by sync?
What do you mean by Wi-Fi v. Cable?
Currently when you are connected to the Internet you can download any book to your device. It will be available when you are not connected to the Internet (you have a Wi-Fi only device like an iPod Touch or iPad or you are on Airplane mode with iPhone).
Then when you read, it should sync with Logos servers and tell them where the last left off spot was each time you are connected. Sometimes this can be spotty. But it works pretty well.
Other things that sync are reading plans and favorites.

Unfortunately that's not possible. iTunes doesn't allow individual applications to sync data in that way (plus the books on desktop Logos are in a different format to iPhone Logos, so it wouldn't work anyway).

Actually Mark with the arrival of the ipad today apps can sync files via itunes. I heard this on MacBreak weekly that Pages files can be added to the ipad via itunes interface. Haven't tried it yet as my ipad is still out in nowhere land. But if it works on the iPad, maybe this could be a way to get books on the Logos ipad/iphone app.
