Search Templates
I'm new to Logos 8, and wanted some help with searches, so watched the 'Introduction to Searching' video. Following the example in the video, I tried using a Search Template to search for a Person and a Biblical Thing in the Same Verse, e.g. 'Jesus' and 'River'. However, no matter what I type in the 'Thing' field, no suggestions are offered, and the Search button remains disabled - see screenshot 1. If I type <Person Jesus> AND <Thing River> in the search bar, I get zero results - see screenshot 2. In fact, none of the templates seem to work. If I select Place Jerusalem, for example, then I can select it, and click Search, but I still get zero results - see screenshot 3. Interestingly, if I search for <Place Jerusalem>> (two end brackets), and press enter, I do get a list of results - see screenshot 4.
If I'm doing something wrong, please can someone explain to me how to get this to work. I apologise if there is an existing thread covering this. I tried searching for 'Search templates' on the forum, but kept getting:
"Sorry, there was a problem with your last request!
Either the site is offline or an unhandled error occurred. We apologize and have logged the error. Please try your request again or if you know who your site administrator is let them know too."
There is a 'Search Fail' thread, but I thought this was more specific.
For info:
I'm using Logos 8.16.0.002 on Windows 10 Home 2004.

Hi John
For these People / Places / Things searches to work you need access to the Referents Dataset. This is not included in the Logos Basic package - what package do you have?
And I don’t understand why your search with two >> works!

Hi Graham,
Thanks - that will be it. I have the Basics package. That didn't come across in the video, unless it's explained later on.
On rechecking the >> 'fix', I realise that it's not actually doing what I think is. It just appeared to work, at quick glance. Searching for '<Place Jerusalem>>' simply returns verses with 'Jerusalem' and 'place' in the same verse, not everywhere Jerusalem, or an alternative name, is mentioned. Similarly, '<Person Jesus>>' returns verses with 'Jesus' and 'person' in the same verse.
Anyway, you have answered my question.

Least expensive purchase option is Logos 8 Fundamentals that includes Referents Dataset (useful subset of Starter Upgrade) along with a number of resources: e.g. four Bibles with Reverse Interlinear (two more than Basic are CSB and ESV)

Thanks.
I'll have a closer look at the Logos 8 Fundamentals. As a previous WordSearch customer, I already own quite a few of the resources (including the bibles), but this is still a great value package, with lots in it, and there's a special offer for ex-WordSearch customers!

Hello,
1. Clicking the Search icon and selecting the Navigation Drawer icon reveals available search templates.
2.Choose the template that you wish to apply to your search. A window appears with boxes to enter the search term(s) applicable to your template.
3.Click Search.
