Labelling Notes
Hello,
I am having difficulty with labels.
I have a custom palette with my own list of labels/highlights created and use this in marking up my bible.
However, when I seek to add one of these labels to a note (using the + option) I cannot seem to get the note to link to these labels i.e. when i start typing one of them they do not pop up to select.
What am I doing wrong?
thanks,
Sam

Can you give us some screenshots of your highlight/label creation and what you are doing in notes so we can see it?

Hi David,
It seems to be working this morning. Not sure what the difference is. One other thing that I struggle with is to get the notes that are labelled to show up in a search...
When I use the label search function, only the "highlights" in my bible text show. How do I get the labelled notes to show up as well. I have included a screen shot of some of the labels I use.
thanks,
Sam

When I do a label search, those passages with the associated label are returned as results
Are you not seeing this?

Hi Graham,
No only the passages are returned where I have actually highlighted the text with the label. None of notes are returned...nor even the passage that the note is anchored to...
Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks

Yes, this is what I am seeing and is expected behaviour.
If you don’t apply the label - using the Highlight function - they won’t show in search results.
Please clarify what you are doing and what results you are hoping for - I’m afraid I don’t understand

Hi Graham,
So when I select text and then press the relevant label I have created within the highlights palette..this is returned ok in a label search.
However..when I use the +arrow at the bottom of a note and add the relevant label to a note..this is not returned in a search i.e. it doesnt come up under my documents nor is the verse the note is anchored to returned as a result either.
Thanks

Hi Graham...
to add further clarity see attached screenshot... I created a dummy label "New test". I have added this to a note anchored to Lev 4:5. When I complete the label search... nothing is returned?
thanks,
Sam
It would not show up with that note because there is only an anchored reference, not anchored text selections. https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/360028814371-Using-Labels#h.jyy5ycur335a
Just curious, what exactly is your use case for adding labels to notes. Labels are specifically for text in resources. For notes, that may or may not be anchored to text, you should use tags.
Labels are your way of creating your own datasets that Faithlife has not created on the texts of the resources themselves. In other words, tagging resources for things Faithlife doesn't already tag. Hope that helps!

Hi David...
thankyou... I had read through the link you sent me previously but didn't realise when it describes "anchored text" that it is specifically different than an anchored reference. That clarifies things.
On you 2nd point, I was just wanting to understand the possibilities of labels etc, and it would be easier focusing on labels than having to use labels and tags. So you would clearly recommend using both?
thanks

Yes because they serve two different functions. Tags are specific to the notes themselves. Labels are specific to resource text.Sam Larkin said:Hi David...
