Wordsearch study guides type: monograph or commentary?

1. I truly appreciate all the work Faithlife is doing to migrate resources.

2. I'm curious why the LifeGuide Study guides are listed as "Monograph" but the LifeChange Study guides are listed as Bible Commentary. Even more confusing is that LifeChange (Proverbs) is a Monograph, but LifeChange (Joshua) is a Bible Commentary.

I suspect they are simply in different stages of conversion. As full Logos resources they will be Bible Commentaries or some new subdivision as Study Bible/Bible Notes/Commentaries appear to be in a bit of flux. The WS materials were originally brought over as eBook monographs and the conversion to Logos is expected to be complete by year's end.

but these are not all part of the WordSearch migration. some are wordsearch licenses matched to existing already Full Logos resources that are mistyped

this collection has been in Logos library for years - https://www.logos.com/product/148890/lifeguide-bible-studies-collection and says the type is supposed to be "Bible Studies"

I don't have them to check but to be a Bible Commentary the lessons have to be in Scripture order and more or less follow a book thru. Do both series do that? or is one topical?

the LifeGuide study guides are topical material which are not intended to provide ongoing bible commentary. The screenshot shows a typical, randomly picked ToC:

Those typically follow along a biblical book and thus meet the criteria for bible commentaries. The exception is Proverbs: the editors saw it more beneficial to arrange their study material around topical clusters in Proverbs, rather than run along the book with the study group:

Yes, now that I've seen it in your screenshot, and bought one that I could use these days, there are textual ones that are tagged with bible milestones and type:"bible commentary" (the ones I owned in Logos so far were all monographs). Which then is as it should be - noting that the one on 1 + 2 Peter and Jude is lacking a bible index even though it would certainly qualify.

Since there are several sub-bundles of this series, most geared towards topical study and some towards going along a biblical book, maybe it's helpful for you to edit the series name or use tags to differentiate ("expository bible study" vs. "topical bible study"?). But from FL side it seems nearly all is okay - type:"bible commentary" for those that have bible index and follow a book consecutively, type:monograph otherwise as that's the default.

I respectfully disagree that "nearly all is okay". This snip of a portion of my library highlights many of the Study Guides that are published ON A TEXT OF SCRIPTURE, that are typed as monograph while a few other "textual" study guides in the series are typed as commentary. I would be pleased if all the SG addressing a portion of Scripture were commentary and all that are topical were typed as monograph (even though some of the chapters in the topical guides do address a portion of scripture in verse by verse or pericope by pericope fashion even if they are not versified). I would be pleased if all of the series was typed as Bible Studies (as stated on the product page). Either response would make for easier rules for a dynamic collection.

Greater Consistency is my request since TYPE is not a user-editable field in the metadata.

Regarding the Navigators' LifeChange series, this seems exactly to be the case. They all address Scripture and are indexed accordingly and are type:"bible commentary" - the exception being the volume on Proverbs that takes a topical approach.

With the LifeGuide series it seems Logos opted for monograph (except for three - whyever) and choose not to bible-index most of them. We probably should list those that would qualify for the bible index tagging and bring them to FL's attention - you own more than I do, it seems nearly all in my library are in fact topical, where you marked up more than a dozen that might qualify, going from the titles. It's probably more prudent to go by subject - those that have Bible. X.T. yyyyyyy--zzzz where X is either N or O and yyyyyy stands for a biblical book are most likely to qualify.

There's no such type in the library as of today - and even if if there was, this would not differentiate between those that are bible-indexed and run consecutively through a book of the bible (it's nice to see those of them typed bible-commentary rather than monograph though!) and the topical ones, which was your main question if I recall correct.

I prsonally put a tag "bible study" to all of them (and to the Standard Lesson Commentary volumes I own, too). I also tag those that treat a book of scripture with my personal scripture index (like #01 - Gen for Genesis and so on) which helps me identifying them in the library or for collections.
