Create a link problem for "McGarvey-Acts of Apostles"

In WS I had JlW. McGarvey "A commentary on the Acts of the Apostles" which I now have in Logos 8. So now I want to create a link from that book in one of my notes.

1. I create the note file and put the words "McGarvey-Acts of Apostles"

2. go to the position in the Acts of the Apostles, right click the place where I want the link then copy the url

3.Then go to my note file high-lite the words "McGarvey-Acts of Apostles"

4. then click link symbol

5. paste the url I copied

6. then click save.

But.... when I click on the words "McGarvey-Acts of Apostles" in my note file ... it opens my Bible and goes to Acts 10:46.    I think this is a boo-boo as I cannot create a link to "McGarvey-Acts of Apostles" in my notes file. Looking at the actual url as it is copied  it reads: "https://ref.ly/logosref/Bible.Ac10.46"  which refers me to my Bible and not to the passage in "McGarvey-Acts of Apostles" where I created the url from. I'm thinking the url should read something like "https://ref.ly/logosref/ACommentaryonActsofApostles" or something.

When I click on the link in my notes file I expect to see the paragraph in ""McGarvey-Acts of Apostles" where I created the link from.

Maybe I am doing something wrong?

xn = Christan man=man -- Acts 11:26 "....and the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch".

Also with my J.W. McGarvey "A Commentary on the Acts of the Apostles" ---  when I open my Bible and that book.... and click the 3 dots on upper right in that book... and click on the "A" to make it track with group "A"...  well it doesn't track even though the "A" is orange.

Something fishy about that book huh? [:(]

Yes. Your number 2 is the issue. What you do from the right-click-menu is copying the reference, i.e. a link to the bible location you're in (

https://ref.ly/logosref/Bible.Ac10.44-46 ). What you want to do instead is open the "kebap" menu - three vertical dots on the top right corner of the tab - and then choose copy location as... URL. This gives you a link to the resource:  https://ref.ly/logosres/actsmcgarvey01?ref=Bible.Ac10.44-46

hm. I just tried with putting McGarvey into link set A and the NIV into link set a and both track nicely together, i.e. when I move around in the commentary, NIV will auto-scroll to that position, when I move around in the NIV in Acts, the commentary will position itself to that verse. Of course the commentary can't move along when I position NIV somewhere else outside of Acts.

I don't see anything out of order - but I used "New Commentary on Acts of the Apostles" in 2 volumes. If your book is different, please share screenshots and other meaningful information such as the support info:

    EDIT:

I just saw that I also own "A Commentary on Acts of the Apostles" by McGarvey - the tracking in link set A works just as described above, no issues - and the URL location works as well: https://ref.ly/logosres/mcgaroca?ref=Bible.Ac10.46&off=128&ctx=+and+his+companions.~+(44)+%E2%80%9C%EF%BB%BFWhile+Peter+

    This book is:

My apologies. Wife says I stay up too late, maybe she's right.  But you are correct. I did like you said and everything worked great.

Been trying to learn Logos and use it in all I do and not go back to WS. I fell asleep at 5 am today at the keyboard... Too much to do and no time to do it....  but time to do it over???

    Thanks for straightening me out!!

No apologies needed - Logos is a very powerful and therefore complex system, and it's quite a learning experience if one was used to another software. Glad to hear that it's now working for you!
