Greek & Hebrew fonts in Mobile Web

I am using an Android phone to browse library.logos.com and it feels better than I have expected. However, my Hebrew texts all display as squares and the same happens in some of the Greek letters. I guess the solution involves installing the relevant fonts on the phone. Does anyone know how it should be done?

I looked into this myself a couple months ago. Apparently there is no way to add fonts to the OS itself, but apps can embed them. I am hoping that the new firefox browser, fennec, addresses this issue. I'll test it out tonight and get back to you.

I'm using a Dell Axim x51v, and I can download fonts to the device. Any idea what the accented Greek font is?

Hmmm... I was using the IE browser in Win Mobile 5.1, and was getting the character boxes.Hebrew also had the character boxes and was being displayed incorrectly left>right.

I just tried viewing it in the Skyfire mobile browser I also have on the device, and Greek, Hebrew, and even Syriac shows up beautifully.

Thank you, Bill. Note that this probably only applies to my Dell Axim x51v running WinMobile 5.1. As Bill suggested on the other forum, I did install TimesNewRoman and SBLHebrew on my device. After further testing, I can report the following.

InternetExplorer: no accented Greek, no marked Hebrew, Hebrew L>R, no Syriac

Mozilla Minimo: no accented Greek, no marked Hebrew, Hebrew L>R, no Syriac

Opera Mini 5: no accented Greek, no marked Hebrew, Hebrew L>R, no Syriac

Opera Mobile 10: beautiful accented Greek, no marked Hebrew, Hebrew L>R, no Syriac

Skyfire: acceptable accented Greek, beautiful marked Hebrew R>L, beautiful marked Syriac R>L

I can also report that Opera Mini 5 was by far the fastest in rendering. Opera Mobile 10 and Skyfire were about the same. IE and Minimo lagged far behind.
