Please be generous with your additional details, corrections, suggestions, and other feedback. This is being built in a .docx file for a PBB which will be shared periodically.

From Your Library
The From Your Library is a “dumb” search of your library for resources for the term Abraham. The Bible entity search returns no results because the library metadata is not tagged with Biblical entity tags. The library search for Abraham will select Abraham found anywhere in the metadata – author, title, publisher, subject . . . The first five entries, i.e. those shown include two titles on the Biblical Abraham and one volume each for Abraham Lincoln, Abraham Miguel Cardozo, and Abraham Booth.
The Library Search option uses a search unlike those we have previously seen; here the search is a function of the Library panel. There are more than twenty attributes that can be shown; you will see whichever attributes were last shown. A right-click on the column titles bar allows you to change what is shown.
How does one narrow the list down to resources worth considering? My method:
- I add facets to limit the list. One facet I use frequently is to limit the list to resources on this device. I have left the resources I use infrequently in the cloud.
- I open the information panel
- I use CNTL-A to select all resources in the result list.
- I export as a Bibliography or Collection from which I delete the entries that are not of interest to me.
Media Collections
From Verbum Help:
[quote]Media Collections Section
Searches the Verbum servers for media items that match the guide’s key reference or topic. Media collections are online images and videos that are created, licensed, or curated by Faithlife editorial staff. These differ from Media resources mainly in delivery method: Media resources are on your hard drive, and Media Collections are on the internet.[1]
However, in the Everything Search the Media Collections Section contains both the Media resources and the Media Collections.
As expected, the search for the Bible entity returns fewer results than the search for the term “Abraham”. The first few results are provided as previews.
- Mouse-over provides the title and the Media Collection name
- Click opens the item in a panel
- Right-click provides a variety of export options
At the bottom of the section, a search option is provided to provide access to all the results. This search is against all media yielding results in five sections:
- Your Personal Books
- Media Collections
- Online Results
- Atlas
- Library (Downloaded)
Matching the counts is less than obvious: the 205 results for <Person Abraham> appears to be the sum of 44 results in Media Collections and 161 articles with results in Library (Downloaded). The 1,382 results for Abraham is the sum of 49 results in Media Collections and 1,333 articles with results in Library (Download). The results in Your Personal Books, Online Results, and Atlas are ignored.
The count of 44 results results returned in the media collections portion of the Search can be verified using the Media tool.
Atlas
Maps are tied to people only through metadata, text, and tagging. Therefore, the Bible entity search has only one less result that the term “Abraham”. The additional map is titled “Isaac’s life”.
- Mouse over shows the map title
- Clicking opens the map in the Atlas tool (and floating window)
The Search initiated from the Atlas section is a standard Basic search across Atlas resources.
