There are a few good ones out there. While I wish that Hanson's Search for the Christian Doctrine of God were available, John Behr's Formation of Christian Theology is excellent, and what I would recommend in Logos.

Hi MM - I had a quick look in my library to see what might assist. Most seem to deal with the theology of the Trinity rather than giving a clear historical exposition. However, I hope these references might be of use:
Historical development in general terms -
Olsen & Hall - “The Trinity” - https://www.logos.com/product/3813/the-trinity

More substantial historical comment -

I suggest consulting https://www.logos.com/product/164456/the-trinity-an-introduction-to-catholic-doctrine-on-the-triune-god, particularly chapters 3 and 4.

As you are looking at the development, I appreciate Roger Olson as a historical theologian. This brief work appears to be a summary of a more detailed resource that is not available from Faithlife.
However, Olson does make this work available in Logos format - https://www.logos.com/product/3813/the-trinity [suggested by "Paul" above]
