Is there a "free" Logos 9 basic Desktop App?
If so, is it available now? Link?
If so, will ALL of the data sets that the user already owns (i.e. all functionality of Logos 8 specific to the user) carry over into Logos 9 "free?" Or...are there some features/data sets that will not carry over because they are combined/rolled into a Logos 9 feature set that will need to be purchased?
Bonus question: Are there any Logos 8 features that are now "legacy" and are not included in Logos 9?
Just trying to figure out all of my options...

Not yet, but it's coming in early 2021.

Everything will carry over for free. No need to repurchase anything. Many new items aren't included in the free version, but a few are.

Not that I can think of right now. A couple have been replaced with a new and expanded version (Graph Bible Search Results was replaced with Charts and old Factbook was replaced with new Factbook). But this should be mostly big steps forward.

Hi Larry.
The "free" upgrade usually becomes available early 2021. There are feature sets in L9 that will require a purchase beyond the Basic package. If you are looking for features and not additional books you can purchase the L9 feature set that fits your needs or you can enroll in Faithlife Connect with will upgrade you immediately to L9 with the full feature set. For those not interested in adding books this is often the best option.
If you go to the Compare Base Packages page on the website you can compare feature sets with pricing. The full feature set starts with Gold packages.

There will be one eventually.
My semi-educated guess is that eventually will be something like three to six months from now.

The old Factbook has been replaced by the new, much better Factbook, and there's a new Charts feature that I think replaces some old, inferior functionality. So... not really, no.

I cannot speak for Logos, but I can't imagine that this will be behind a pay wall.

I saw that he price for the full upgrade to Logos 9 is around $194.00. Since my budget is limited, can I pay it in installments like I did for Logos 8?

What I'm looking for is no there. I'm looking to move from Logos 8 to Logos 9 with no extras, just the full upgrade. I would also like to make monthly payments.

If your cart is eligible for payment plans, an option will appear on the left sidebar where you can select the payment plan.
Just put the full upgrade in the cart, start the checkout process (by clicking next) and see what appears, if anything.
