Slight Misunderstanding

Okay, maybe this is my fault, and I'm not really sore about it, but I thought it was worth mentioning.....

My computer came up with all sorts of announcements regarding Logos 9 today, so I stopped what I was doing and did some investigating about the new features and the price - I presently have Logos 8 Silver.

Wow!  I liked what I saw and I could upgrade the data set for only $XX.XX!!  Then I saw the price for the Silver upgrade - $XXX.XX.  Double Wow!  A lot cheaper than it cost to upgrade from Logos 7 to 8 Silver.

So I parted with my hard earned and downloaded the Silver upgrade.  Later I went to see what an upgrade to Gold would cost.  To make sure Logos still knew who I was, I checked what the upgrade to Silver was expecting it to read $0.00.  Huh?  It read an additional $XXX.XX.  It was only then that I realized the upgrade I had bought only upgraded the resources I already owned and the price the web now showed, included the new upgraded resources!

Logos, I'm 82 years old - you have to explain these things to me!!!!!

In Christ,
Gerry

Are you a FL Connect subscriber? If so, the store defaults to selling you the library only, since you are already subscribing to the features.

If not, please check your order history through the store, and provide a screenshot of that package‘s price after purchasing it.

You can also contact Customer Service via chat, email, or phone, to get an answer or help with a refund. See https://faithlife.com/contact

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

I'm not seeing an option to do this although I did see some very confusing differences in price for the same page ... You're younger than my sister but I'd still suggest that you contact customer service and get exactly what you intend to get.

I just checked and discovered though I own the Silver upgrade package sans new resources, there are resources in the Bronze and the Starter package that I DON'T already own!!

    Now this AIN'T RIGHT!

I think I know what is going on between the web page and your expectations but I am not certain. Rather than add to the confusion, I suggest a call to Customer Service.

I also suggest a call to customer service, but I'll dare to write my hypothesis.

My hypothesis is that Gerald bought a Silver Feature Upgrade, which includes lots of features, but meant to buy a Logos 7 Silver Base Package, which includes all of those features and a bunch of books.

I concur that something is not quite right in the way the website is handling the difference between dataset/features and libraries. I’ve had 2 purchases in the last week that automatically added BUYING the datasets when I clicked on “add to cart” for a library I wanted. (Since I’m a Connect subscriber , I don’t want/need to purchase the dataset!). calls to Sales were beneficial in buying just what I wanted, but I wish the website would handle this better.

Dynamic pricing doesn't take that into consideration?  Uh-oh...I'm a Verbum Now subscriber, I may need to take a better look at what I purchase.

At the moment of launch yesterday, this was an issue for Verbum Now, but the Verbum staff got it fixed later in the day--for both Verbum and Logos packages--after it was brought to their attention. Now you will see a toggle switch on the product display page, and it will default to just the Library, which is the price you will see when you are just browsing product pages.

The default on the webpage is to not add the feature upgrades but only the package resources.

There is nothing for dynamic pricing to consider. You don't own the features as a subscriber, you rent them.

David, I appreciate that this has now been remedied, but this was NOT my experience on Saturday, 10/24 when I added 2 L8 packages or on Monday 10/26 when I tried to add a L9 package.

In both of those sessions, when I clicked "add to cart" the website defaulted to INCLUDING the datasets that I already have access through my Connect subscription.

I can validate David Thomas experience. Twice I added (i think) reformed Gold to the cart, and twice made sure resources only was checked, and twice removed it from the cart because instead of ~100$ it was 220$ in the cart, which could only be explained by also including the features/datasets.

I don't know this for sure, but I suspect that Faithlife have put on hold showing prices on this page as to not hammer the servers during the obviously busy Logos 9 launch window. There are 90 packages on there, the price of each one would have to be calculated and/or retrieved for everyone visiting the page.

I'm more than beginning to think that the problem with Verbum Now that was resolved yesterday was also affecting Faithlife Connect.

    Why are you amazed?

What difference are you seeing in price compared with what additional resources you would receive?

Thank you.  That was my concern - did I buy them when I already has access to them?

Nope, you never buy the same exact resource twice.

Nope, you never buy the same exact resource twice.

I think the context there was buying something you already had temporary access to via subscription.
