How space is wasted in the top bar of logos and why the Logos Logo (currently unfunctional) could be used as the home button to free up more space. The image is a copy of the word document in case the word doc cannot be viewed.

Agreed about the icon being used as a home button to free up space. Good idea!

Disagree about spacing itself. The spacing is good to me. It makes the available options more appealing to the eye and permits one to easily identity what they are looking for. It's kind of the same concept with Google: the search page has a lot of space - intentionally - to focus attention on the search box. Keeping the Menu / Shortcuts bar clean and non-cluttered focuses attention on the search box, which is where it should be.

I remember when there were only a few buttons up there, and the design challenge was to make it not look so empty! But that was a long time ago. It's grown over time, and user space for shortcuts has definitely gotten squished from both sides. (Shortcut folders helps, though, I hope.)

Anyway, we're taking a look at the main application bar right now, and we'll take this feedback on board. Thanks for the detail!

Indeed I agree, but reducing the size/spacing between icons will give you that extra space!

And consolidating the home button function to the Logos icon will also help give that extra space.

In theory it should have done, but it hasn't - see my image. Because the shortcut folders are text only rather than an icon, it actually takes up more space!!

Understood (and agree). The text-only constraint for folders was the simplest thing that could possibly work, anticipating the possibility that people might want more. That's on our list of things to keep an eye on as well.
