Logos 9 Crashing Constantly

Hello,

Is anyone having issues with Logos 9 crashing. I upgraded yesterday and cannot use the software it keeps crashing after updating my library. I am waiting on support to analyze my logs. I uninstalled Logos 9 and reinstalled everything overnight to no avail. The software keeps crashing.

Are you on Mac or Windows? What version of Operating System do you have?

Also, if you post your logs in this thread (use the paperclip icon), there are several forums members who might be able to analyze them and work out what's going on.

I can see the logs now.

They contain this string:

Access to the path 'C:\Users\USER\AppData\Local\Temp\WPF\ysesjnw1.rla' is denied.

This suggests some sort of file access or permissions problem.

How much free space do you have on your C: drive, does the account you are using have access to the folder mentioned?

You may need to exclude Logos or the Temp folder (or uninstall those apps) to fix the incompatibility.

No, I only use Norton 360. The crashing started once I upgraded to Logos 9. Everything was working fine under Logos 8.

Thank you for pointing out that I have been having a access or permission issue. With this issue in mind, I started Logos 9 by running it as administrator and voila... no more crashing. For some reason, Logos 9 was trying to access the AppData folder with the improper permission. I simply found the application in the Logos 9 folder and checked "Run as Administrator" in the compatibility tab. The problem is now solved.

This is where the application normally stores your resources and other data so that is why it was trying to gain access. Normally it should have worked, but it's possible your system had some setting that required you to change it.

I'm glad you are no longer crashing.

This is likely to cause problems in the future, because Logos 9 is intended to run as a regular (non-elevated, non-admin) user.

My recommendation would be to make sure your user acccount has full access to the %LOCALAPPDATA%\Logos and %LOCALAPDATA%\Faithlife folders, and run without Administrator access.
