New in Logos 9: Reading Plans Updates

I might add again, there is a glitch in creating a Reading Plan. In Dark mode (theme) when one wishes to do a print-out of the screen, for example 'as is' those two options off to the left that give do not show in the Dark mode. They do in the System or Light mode but not in the dark. 

I had the same reaction you did on first read, but I think I understand what he meant. The option print as shown on screen if you are in dark mode would mean covering your page in black ink with color. I would look horrible, run like crazy and cost a lot of money in ink. What they did not realize when they disabled that check box was that was the only way to print out the calendar. They need a different check box option if in dark mode that allows you  to print the calendar view without piece of paper covered in solid, black ink.

Of course, in my simple world, if you go to print/export when you are in calendar mode, then it should print in calendar mode by default, but allow you an option to print list if you would like.

When I create a new reading plan for monographs... if I put a different start date than today... once I finish creating the plan it changes everything back as though I had requested today.  I then have to hit the edit button and put the desired start date again.  Sometimes I have to do that several times for it to stick.

I had the same problem yesterday when trying to create a simple Bible reading plan. I never did get it to stick and gave up after half an hour of trying.

I am really glad to see the devs at Faithlife taking a renewed look at the reading plan functionality. It is one of the most underrated features in my opinion and one which really helps to provide structure to people who need/want to follow a reading regiment.

I think the L9 update is a great addition but I think it would really benefit from a couple small additions. I might pose it as a suggestion, but I'd like to hear some other people's thoughts.

I would really like to see some of the customization features that you get from the reading plan tool in the docs menu, but displayed in a more user friendly way. 

For instance, include an option for "read x pages a day" and "finish by x day" and maybe offer an option for reading plans that break reading sessions along subheadings instead of chapters. Since books are formatted in so many configurations, having a reading plan that is chapter-focused may not lead to the best plan. Some books have 3 page chapters, and you would probably want to read more than one each day. Conversely, some books have 120 page chapters but plenty of subheadings that could guide your reading sessions. 

I also am having that problem. Also, in dark mode when the update bar appears, it comes up as an unreadable yellow bar with white text. 

I am also having issue with the day automatically changing to today. Also, can we do something about the unreadable yellow bar with white text.

Hi. In the pretty new Logos 9, the readings calendar is not shown properly in Mac. Actually, it is not shown at all.

I love the new reading plan update. Finally, I can put something meaningful into the reading plan the way I design it. Thank you. 

I have created a past reading plan into a note and that worked fine, however, I like the reading plan update and wonder is there a way to import a reading plan into Logos 9? I don't want to retype it all over again, as it is about 4 bible chapters a day, all year. (LIFE Journal Reading Plan).

To reflect the questions I asked in the linked post.  I know wiki is a free guide but I really feel that Logos needs to explain how better to build your own custom reading plans and/or layout what is possible and what is not.  There are some great reading plan examples in the advanced section but I had difficulty figuring out how to do one.  The answers were not obvious to me but my bulb is dimming as life moves on

You can click on desktop and mobile but both those videos seem older and don't explain it.

The Read Later list in the Logos mobile app allows you to create a queue of books you'd like to read in the future. In the Logos desktop application, you can find and manage books on your Read Later list via the tag #ReadLater.

Hey Matillo, I had the same question and couldn't find an answer in this thread. You probably already had your question answered elsewhere, but just in case others had the same question, I found the answer in this post:

"Read Later is currently only available on our mobile app. However, when you add something to the Read Later list on mobile, we add a special tag to that resource (#ReadLater). You can view what books have this tag on desktop by visiting the library and filtering down to that tag. You can also add that tag on desktop to any resource that you want to have show up in the Read Later list on mobile. 

If we hear from users that they enjoy the Read Later list on mobile, we'll likely bring it to desktop as well."
