how can i remove unwanted resources on my ipad.

i want to be able to read resources on my ipad but the problem is that when searching through the books that i have there are too many, is there a simpler, easier way to browse through books on the ipad and some i want to remove because i simply will never read them.

If you have Logos 4 / 5 on Windows or Mac, there are some things you can do to make this easier.

One option is "hiding books" which you don't want to read - details of this are at http://wiki.logos.com/Hiding_Books. This will remove books from your library on both your desktop and iPad.

Alternatively you could tag resources in Logos 4 / 5 - details at http://wiki.logos.com/Tagging - with a tag which you could then use as a filter in the library on your iPad and you would then only see resources with that tag. So if, for example, you tagged resources with a tag "DisplayoniPad" and then put that tag into your iPad library filter you would only get displayed resources with that tag.

Using the library from within L5 is much more powerful than from within the mobile app… You can certainly add tags to your resources. There are some other things you can do as well:

edition:e will show you only Vyrso resources.
local: will show you only your downloaded resources.
mytag:[your tag here] will filter the library for books with the specified tag

In addition to the syntax listed, you can use the various "sort by" filters. In my mind, "sort by recent" is the most helpful, unless I am trying to find a resource that I haven't used in a while.

You don't need to list books here… Personally, I have removed the latin resources since I don't speak latin… but if you are talking about other books, I would caution about getting delete happy. One of the benefits of having a large library is serendipitously finding something in a book via a search… perhaps in a book you might have otherwise deleted. [;)]

Just wondering if there is a way to use the desktop/laptop to see all the books installed on the mobile device. By scrolling down the list, he could then uncheck individually or by group and have them removed from the mobile device.

Additionally, you can sort the library by a series on the desktop/laptop and then select a series and uncheck the mobile device. Be sure that you are select the "I" next to the word "view" in the library to sort this way.

Graham - My understanding is that you cant use local:"in a boolean expression." doesnt that mean adding "and" or "or"? I think you should be able to filter with that syntax... I could be wrong. I have been before. [:P]

EDIT: By "filter," I simply mean "see all your local books only." I dont mean performing any other search with that syntax. I often get confused about the "current release." I know that local: has been working for a while for me, if imperfect.

This would affect whether resources are physically downloaded to the device not whether they are displayed in the iPad app itself - which I think is what John was looking for.

If you tap the tabs icon (bottom centre of the screen) you will see all the tabs and you can scroll between them. At the top left of each tab is a small "x". Tap that to close the tab.

Also at the bottom left of that screen, there is a layouts button.

If you tap that you can save layouts and then easily go back to them later. So if you set up a specific set of tabs for study (Search, Commentary, Bible for example) you can easily go back to just that set of tabs.
