Author search not working?

I am ultimately trying to create a collection of the books I have authored by St. John Chrysostom. I tried creating a collection starting from author:Chrysostom, and I got a number of resources not authored by him.

So I dropped back - I opened my library, and I did author:Chrysostom, and I got the same result as in the Collection, with a lot of non-Chrysostom resources:

Then, I used the filter and selected him as author, and that worked:

Why doesn't plain old 'author:Chrysostom' work? Thanks!

I am on 9.1 beta 1, Mac Verbum.

I think the issue is you have a space between the colon and the name.

Ah you got it! Thanks! I looked at that but didn't think a space was there. I copy and paste his name because I can't spell it lol. Thanks Graham!

Note also that, when manually typing it in, author:John Chrysostom will return different results than author:"John Chrysostom" (by design). The search terminology that the Library facets show is not always actually what one needs to enter manually in order to get the same result.

Yes, it is looking for author:John whilst "Chrysostom" can occur anywhere in the metadata. As a shortcut, you can type author:john-chrysostom, all lower case. This is a flexible search operator.

The search terminology that the Library facets show is not always actually what one needs to enter manually in order to get the same result.

It occurs because the facet uses {Author "John Chrysostom"} or {Author "Schaff, Philip"} internally; which is a precise format, although inconsistent with the treatment of surname here.
