Is anyone using the new Preaching mode?

I don't know if I'll ever switch from paper outlines that work without electricity or wifi, but I am curious to hear how it's going with this new feature. What are you liking about it? Do you use the scrolling or page-by-page method? Are you using a laptop or tablet or phone?

Yes I am using it on my Android Tablet. I used to use the tablet to advance ppt slides... now I use my phone for that and the Tablet for the preaching mode. I use it on scroll and love the timer. Since the Sunday morning sermons are recorded for local cable TV, the timer is a great tool. It is also nice not to be awkwardly shuffling papers on the pulpit. I didn't think that I would like the new feature as much as I do... but it is a real help.

Ive taught 2 adult SS lessons with it. It might just be me, but I feel like I forget some things are cant place where I am in the lesson (compared to having a couple of pages or single page outline or notes). but I think as I use it more I'll get more comfortable with it.

I have an 11" iPad. On the left side of the screen I have my Keynote slides. On the right side I have logos in preaching mode. The iPad beams the keynote slides to a projector that has an apple tv hooked up to it. So on the left side of the iPad I can see my current slide and the next slide. and if I wanted I could scribble or underline something, but I haven't done that yet.

I also forget sometimes where I am in the lesson and when to hit the next slide. but none of these things are logos' fault. i just need to use it more.

I use my iPad with power point slides on half the screen and my sermon in preaching mode on the other half of the screen.

I love preaching mode. I use the page method.

I have preached from my iPad since Logos 7 added the sermon editor and have never looked back to preaching from paper again.

I struggled with this nearly 10 years ago. For me the "preach from a tablet" was an attempt to be "relevant" (honestly it was a pride issue trying to be "cool"). I've settled back in to a UTILITARIAN approach. My preaching desk contains a paper Bible, a thin leather binder that holds 5.5x8.5" sermon notes (I keep in a binder to keep in order even if a fan is on the stage) and a Tablet that runs Proclaim Remote so that I can control the projection slides, and a laser pointer so that I can reference items on the projection screen.

Since I export to Proclaim, I haven't seen any benefit to "preaching mode"

Sounds like you have a good setup. I like the idea of not shuffling papers, which someone above mentioned.

But I also worry about feeling like I've lost my place in the outline. I always have a vague sense of how much sermon is left. I've used Word for years, with outlines 3-4 pages. But using Sermon Builder has changed my outlines and it's hard to get used to. That will come with time I'm sure.

On another note--can anyone clarify--do you need wifi to use the Preaching mode?

Preaching mode was built to be used with tablets and no wifi is needed. You just have to make sure you have synced your sermon before hand.

One can use a laptop, but wifi is needed unless on opens it in a browser window before entering a no wifi zone.

No you do not - but need to do a little more work if using desktop / laptop.

I have a problem with the Sermon Manager on my iPad. I like the idea of the Preaching Mode, however, when I am in preaching mode I cannot slide it over to see my preferred bible in order to read a text. I guess it takes complete control of the iPad. Therefore, since I am referring to my Bible numerous times during the message the Preaching Mode is of no value to me.

Am I missing something? Is there a way to utilize both Preaching Mode and my open Bible on the iPad?

No - as you note Preaching Mode takes over the whole screen, and I agree this can sometimes be an issue.

Don't forget a five-finger slide will allow you to swap screens with your bible if you can open the bible in a different app.

I've been preaching on an Android tablet (Galaxy Tab A 10.5) for 2 years, but before I exported the sermon to Evernote and preached from it (and used a stopwatch app to get the time).
Now, since the launch of Logos 9, I’m using the preaching mode and I’m loving it.
The timer is great, the font customization is ok.
I use scroll mode and I don't use slides to preach.
But I always take a paper Bible to the pulpit for backup purpouses.

I used preaching mode on Sunday, and it worked very well. Proclaim is running from my MacBook Pro, and my sermon notes are on an iPad Pro 13". I have the iPad in "portrait" orientation (rather than landscape). I always use a printed Bible in the pulpit. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have full control over my sermon slides. I use scrolling mode rather than page by page, because I feel more comfortable having the before/after context in front of me at all times.

I too have been using the Logos 9 preaching mode. I've actually used it for around 10-12 sermons already and it has worked without any glitches. It syncs perfectly well between my MacBookPro and iPad Pro. I could give more details, but to be honest, it is much better than I thought it would be!

I really like the timer, and the ability to change the font size which wasn't that easy before, I use the scrolling method just because i'm used to it, and I use an android tablet, it's working great, this was one of the main reasons I updated to Logos 9.
