Logos 9 and macOS 11 "Big Sur"
The Logos Desktop Team has tested Logos 9 and Logos 8 on macOS 11 "Big Sur." So far we discovered some minor styling issues (see below), but have not encountered any major issues.
Known Issue: Table of Contents arrows are duplicated.

Great. Looking forward to hearing about Logos on it. I consider Logos 9 my early Christmas present, but a new Mac has been on my delayed wishlist for some time.

I'm on a new M1 MB Air currently. Just downloaded Logos and it won't open. I'll update as I can troubleshoot further.

More. ArsTechnica can get fairly technical. They've been looking at the M1, and say "If Apple's M1 isn't the fastest single-thread—and quad-thread—consumer-available processor on the planet, it certainly isn't missing it by much."

I realize that the new chip probably won't do anything much to help rev up indexing, but I would love to find out it does.[8-|]

On the other hand, if you don't need all the speed of the M1, you can get some good deals on Intel Macs these days! For example, Apple has some great prices on refurbished early 2020 MacBook Airs.
I'm running Verbum 9 on one of those Airs with Big Sur and an i3 (yes, an i3) chip, and I'm satisfied with the performance. Even on the i3, Big Sur feels a little quicker than Catalina.
Sure, I'm curious about the M1, but I thought I'd toss in a different angle, just because!

Actually, it probably will. It has higher memory bandwidth and much faster storage than anything else out there. Those are critical for indexing.

I am doing a fresh install in an M1 Mini right now. Currently downloading my library of some 7000 resources. I will time how long indexing takes, and update later.

I'm afraid not, but that's probably because the chip throttles down to keep heat under control. An iMac or MacBook Pro with fans might index much faster.

No throttling here on my Mac Mini. Currently 20% into a full indexing of 6,700 resources. 25 minutes in.
Throttling really only applies to the new Air which is fanless.

Actually some pretty serious stress tests by reviewers showed no throttling at all.

So does Logos run fine on an M1 Mac using Rosetta?
Anyone try using the iOS version on the Mac. That probably doesn't make a lot of sense, but I'd be curious.

Hey everyone. I've done quite a bit of reading in the forums, but it seems everyone is generally having a good experience with Logos 9 and the new Macs with the M1 chip, but I am not. Everything works, just with a horrible stutter, lag, whatever you'd like to call it. Simply scrolling in an open book is horribly choppy. I had no issues installing, and I upgraded from an older MacBook Air with lower specs than the new M1 MacBook Air I just purchased and in everything I do, I've noticed a great performance increase, but Logos is horrible. I thought at first it was just where Logos was indexing my library, but even when it's finished, there is a lag to the point where I can't use the sermon editor even due to missing keystrokes. This is only happening with Logos 9. Surely someone else out there is experiencing this. Any information or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Have you upgraded to macOS 11.1? There are reports that this has helped with the home page scrolling.
If you continue to have display issues you might consider posting logs to see if there is anything detectable in them.

Will the instructions for enabling and submitting Log Files work with the Verbum Platform? Thanks.
I have just reported to Logos and Verbum recurring and several bugs using Verbum Software on a new Mac Mini Desktop (M1 SOC, 16 Gig, 2 TB) with Big Sur OS. Please advise as to this situation.
When correcting spelling in a created note, right-clicking to change to the suggested correct spelling deletes the sentence that the misspelled word was in.
Verbum regularly crashes when starting it up, each time sending an error report to Apple.
Clicking on a link that references an already open resource, Verbum sometimes opens a duplicate copy of the very resource that is already opened, usually creating a completely new panel (as opposed to opening the duplicate copy in one of the already established panels).
Is the Mac version of Verbum compatible with Big Sur and Apple's M1 System on a Chip?
These are the most common problems I've regularly experienced with Verbum on my Mac Mini (M1 SOC).
