Schillebeeckx PrePub collection - a great value/bargain

This prePub is about a mi=onth old but appears to have stalled since the first week or two:

I came across on Amazon today an 11 volume collection (due for release in September by the same publisher, T&T Clark, as the Logos version):

It looks to me like both sets have mostly the same material.

Even after a 37% discount from Amazon, the Logos version (at teh current PrePub price) costs less than half of the hardbound version.

Although this is outside my budget and my needs at the moment, I agree that this is a great value.

I found that Schillebeeckx (along with Hans Kung and Charles Curran) is considered by many to be a proponent of "neo-modernism". Also enlightening for me is finding out that his relationship with the Congregation of the doctrine of Faith was anything but stellar (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Schillebeeckx#Controversies_with_the_CDF).

An article on modernism by James Akin (http://www.ewtn.com/library/HOMELIBR/MODERSM.TXT) for example says this: "These clerics challenged papal and scriptural infallibility, rejected Catholic moral teachings (such as on contraception), and began to promote ideas such as women's ordination to the priesthood. Over time, these individuals were censured by the Church and prohibited from presenting themselves as Catholic theologians"

And yet if you search for him in Logos library you will find he is quoted by Ratzinger in at least a couple of his books, in some Anchor Yale Bible books, and on quite a few books on sacraments, social teaching, history, Aquinas, and more. Quite a well-rounded fellow!

N.T. Wright wrote an interesting assessment of some of Schillebeeckx's views in "The Resurrection of the Son of God." It is on pages 701-706.

But regardless of what anyone thinks of Schillebeeckx, I am glad Logos is making his works available.

I also ended up putting an order. His volumes on Christology are too interesting for me to pass although I know it will be difficult for me to read them cover to cover, but that's true of at least half almost 95% of my logos purchases! I'm also hoping that my finances will be in line with my wishes.

Yeah I knew that. I think the current cost might be a factor in getting this into Logos. If it was a bargain before, it might not still be one now.
