NICOT Amos ships tomorrow!
In case you missed it (as I did 
- Logos even fooled me when searching for NICOT Amos when David Paul suggested the book elsewhere):
NICOT Amos is in PrePub and scheduled to ship tomorrow, Nov 19th. For those of us who collect the NIC series or who feel that studying Amos might be worthwhile as it seems this book's message might have application today: now is the time to get it with 34% discount and $20 cheaper than the dead-tree-versions I see.

Thank you (and David) for the heads up. I did not know that NICOT wasn't complete, so I wasn't even on the lookout for missing volumes.

"Missing" as in do not exist, yes. Not the same kind of missing as "floating around out there and FL hasn't corralled them yet".

Yes, it's good to be precise here. I had checked with https://www.bestcommentaries.com/series/new-international-commentary-on-the-old-testament-nicot/ and overlooked Lamentations, though. (It's missing from the old bible-book-rhyme I always use....)

I find it strange that NIC has replaced some volumes for certain Biblical books (sometimes twice!) before taking the step of completing the series, especially with a title as fundamental and foundational as Exodus. Does it really take 70 years to find someone to author that commentary?

Maybe it's exactly the fact that this book is so fundamental: they want to pick very well-known and respected experts - but those are rare and have little time. Maybe some of those experts even were found, but a schedule couldn't be determined, or they had to hand in an exposé of the planned book and by the time everything got together, they were no longer able to fulfill (or no longer alive). But that's pure conjecture on my part.

Dr. Eugene Carpenter was the Scholar-in-Residence and Professor of Old Testament, Biblical Theology and Hebrew at Bethel College in Mishawaka, Indiana. Dr. Carpenter authored or contributed to twenty-one books, including a commentary on the Book of Exodus in the NICOT Series and a commentary on the Book of Daniel.
Dr. Carpenter held several degrees: B.A., Bethel College; M.Div., Associated Mennonite Biblical Seminary; Ph.D. in Old Testament and Semitic Studies, Fuller Theological Seminary. He taught at colleges and seminaries around the country. He regularly led academic study trips to Jerusalem University College in Israel.======

There are many of those - but NICNT.
Regarding the Exodus book, maybe there's a backstory (e.g. the author's views were seen as too little or too much scholarly/conservative/liberal/Israel-friendly/messianic/jew-friendly/pre-modern/modern/post-modern/post-post-modern.... ) and Eerdmans withdrew the contract, so Lexham got the chance? There's quite some powerplay going on behind the scenes, and I imagine NICxT to be the flagship evangelical commentary, whereas ECC is a 'new kid on the block' and may have much greater leeway. This is pure speculation, I've read only one - short but very positive - review of the ECC volume, don't own it myself yet.

If folks are looking for a good Exodus commentary that is roughly along the lines of NICOT, Victor Hamilton's Exodus is a great volume. He wrote the 2 volume NICOT Genesis text and they have many of the same features.
Brent Strawn, an excellent OT scholar is working on the NICOT Exodus text according to BestCommentaries. I will be looking forward to that when it is released.
