Not sure if there's an undocumented random verse generator, but there is this undocumented random resource opener: type Facilitate Serendipitous Discovery (or fsd) into the command box and see what happens. [:)]

It's just not documented in the Help file, but that doesn't mean it's a secret.

Kind of a fancy name for channel surfing, or in this case resource surfing.  I guess it's better than playing video games.

It's a way to help introduce you to some of the vast number of books in your library (you do have a library with a vast number of books in it, don't you [;)]). Some of us are used to just referring back again and again to the same old books, and this way we can discover more of what we've got available.

My thoughts exactly ... except I wanted to use a "facilitate random verse discovery" command to test-drive some of the less-used commentaries in my collection.  So my "Book o' the Day" for today was "A Handbook on the Book of Job."  Thought it might be fun (and instructive) to spend 20 min. or so studying a random vs. from Job using this resource (and whatever else I run across in the course of my work) (I'm pretty conversant w/Job itself, so a lack of context isn't really a concern for me.)

So I gather that the "Facilitate Serendipitous Discovery" command is the algorhythm Logos 4 uses to select the "Book o' the Day" ... ?   [Y]

Well that's cool --- I didn't realize (until I actually tried it out) that "fsd" takes you, not only to a random resource, but to a random location within that resource!  Although it's not exactly what I was looking for, it'll do for my random exploration purposes.  Thanks, y'all!

If you hide all your books besides Bibles, it will take you to a random verse in the Bible (in a random version). [;)]

I know that you meant it as a joke - but could one find a way to start Logos with no resources except for the Bibles and then reset it with a full set of resources?  For example, can different layouts have different hidden resources?  Just trying to brainstorm here - but no real answers.

I don't think so. You can only hide one resource at a time, and unhide one resource at a time. So it would take a long time to hide or unhide all your resources except Bibles. And hiding resources is a global setting; it's not per-Layout. Nice thought, though. I wish there were a way to save and load "sub-libraries" though. There are books that I'd want hidden most of the time to keep my library more manageable, searches faster, etc. But occasionally I might want to load them back in to look through them for some reason.
