NET, ESV Bibles - Each Verse on its Own Line
This crops up periodically and I thought I'd revive it.
In most Bibles, each verse appears on a new line. However, at least in the NET and ESV, this is not the case. Why? Because it is difficult to accomplish without losing the Bible notes and other details.
Puhleeze, Logos, give us at least a NET Bible with each verse on a new line.
As James Cagney said in the movie "Yankee Doodle Dandy", "My mother thanks you, my father thanks you, my sister thanks you, and I thank you!"

Hi Gerald,
When I select the "One Verse per Line" visual filter in the NET Bible, I don't seem to lose my notes or anything. Am I misunderstanding you?

If it is the Bible note footnotes you are talking about, just make sure they have a checkmark next to them under the visual filters menu. Is this what you are talking about?

For others who may see this later, I should point out that to see the footnotes at the bottom, you need to be in "1 column" view rather than "scrolling view" (aka columns = none).

JT... thanks for pointing out the columns setting and Graham... thanks for being pedantic.
I hadn't called for help yet, but had been trying to figure out why I had lost the ability to see notes on the page. Well... somewhere along the line I had changed my columns setting to "none". I had gone through all my panel and resource settings and just couldn't see why the notes weren't showing up.
I NEVER would have suspected the notes could be affected by having columns set to none--just no logical connection there in my mind. Even if I had known it in the past (which just might be the case [:O]) I had long forgotten and would not have considered the column setting to be the possible culprit.
Oh well... live and learn... and relearn... and...relearn... and...

I think the reason for this is that with columns set to none, the text is scrolling down the page so nowhere sensible for footnotes to go.

Thanks, Graham. For clarification: There are two "views": Continuous Scroll and Paged. Columns (including "auto") relate only to paged view. You can't "scroll" when in paged view... you "turn the pages." Switch between "none" and (any of the other choices) to see the difference.

I see what you mean. When columns is set to "Auto", my scrolling action/motion, whether using a mouse, trackpad, or arrow key, never moves the text less than a full page at a time, therefore it's not actually scrolling.
