Changed the hard drive of Logos 8 Desktop
Hello everyone,
I purchased an Inspiron laptop with a small SSD that has Windows 10 on it and another 1 TB HD for personal files. I originally loaded Logos 8 on the SSD with Windows 10, but was running out of room. I decided to move Logos to my other drive and everything worked fine. Now I have one consistent error message "The Installation of Logos Bible Software did not succeed."
I can click ok and Logos will run fine, but I am stuck on 8.14.0.0010, and would like auto update to work like it used to. Is there an easy solution to this?

How did you move Logos to your other drive - did you follow the instructions at https://wiki.logos.com/Install_in_different_folder_or_drive#Move_to_a_different_drive or some other method?

Open Regedit from Windows Search. What is the InstallDirectory shown at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Logos4? What is the InstallVersion? What is the actual location of the Logos folder?

My registry looks similar to yours, but my drive for logos is
and my version is 8.14.0.0010.I do have a Logos folder in my registry above my Logos4 folder.

Any chance this drive is an external, ExFAT-formatted drive? Your description of the issue would fit. If so: automatic updates are not supported on ExFAT drives, the only solution would be to backup the drive's content and then format to NTFS.
On the other hand: If the 1TB drive is an internal, spinning HDD, you probably won't like running Logos on it anyways (it will feel like making a turn from jogging on dry ground to wading through a swamp). My suggestion would be to try fitting it on the SSD somehow, and if this really doesn't work, try using an external, NTFS-formatted SSD. Maybe you even get it for cheap, given it's the Black Friday / Cyber Monday weekend.

It would help to know exactly how you did the move. Do you have a Logos folder at %localappdata% and what are its contents (just type the string into the File Explorer box, with both %)?
You might be able to update with LogosSetup, and you won't have worry about another update as long as you stay with Logos 8.

To the best of my memory, I uninstalled from my C:\ drive (solid state) and reinstalled to my
\ drive (traditional).The contents of my %localappdata% folder: I do have a Logos Folder. One folder inside of it names Install. One folder inside of the Install folder named Installers with two files named Logos4updatescript.lbxdat and Logos4webscript.lbxdat. Inside the Installers folder is Logos-x64.
If I were to remove Logos8 altogether and start over would that help?

Try the Setup link from my last post to update in place (to 8.17 SR-1)

Hello Mr Hooton or anyone listening.
I am about to upgrade my engine to Logos 9, but I am still having the problem in this thread. Is there an easy way to uninstall Logos 8, then install Logos 9 on my
/ drive, and allow Logos 9 to auto update without problem?Thank you all for your help.

This will remove Logos from your computer and enable a fresh installation of Logos 9:
- Uninstall Logos from the Control panel > Programs and Features.
- Delete \Logos and the Logos folder at %localappdata%
- Install Logos 9 from https://www.logos.com/install
- Do not run as Admin. If Admin privilege is required, Setup will ask for it.
- If that is successful, get Logos 9 Basic (free).
