Word Search in a Bible When a Scripture is Active
I have opened my AKJV Bible. In the Scripture Box is the Active Jonah 2:8. Because of this active scripture search, I cannot use the Word Search below it. It says search, I enter a word like Mystery & it only shows the book of Jonah.
There must be a way to deactivate the Verse search to permit a whole Bible Word search. Can't find it. Sure makes a person feel dumb with such a simple problem.
Thanks for help in advance

Is there a way to remove the verse for doing a search so that it looks in the whole Bible for a word? When I delete the Jonah verse it just reappears when I try to enter a word search. Your example, where it seems to work for the word mystery, makes me think something is wrong with my copy of the program? (I have Logos 8 Basic, for Windows 10 on my Laptop. 8.17.0.0014).
Thank you sir.
P.S. I notice a Logos 9 is now available. Would it help to get it?0 -

I think I understand the issue you are having - please let me know if this is right
It looks as though you are trying to search for occurrences of a word in the box used to specify position in the Bible - the one outlined below:
This box is used to enter either a verse or passage, or a pericope name - not to search for general words
If you want to search for words, there are two (well quite a few more than that!) ways of doing it.
You can open the Inline Search
and then search for the word you are interested in. This filters your Bible to show only the verses (or you can set it to show the paragraphs) containing that word
Or open up a search panel and run the search from there. That shows the results in a separate screen (with the search terms being highlighted in your Bible) and clicking on one takes you to that place in the Bible
Does this help at all?

There are many good reasons to get Logos 9 - but the Basic version is not available yet - but I don't think this is one of those reasons! Let's see if we can resolve the issue you are having in Logos 8

Yes & No. First, I did not try to enter words in the scripture test box, .. I clicked on the magnifying icon beside it, opened the in line search. It was in there, that occasionally, nothing would happen.
Next, I like the feature of a Search Tab added beside the Bible, ... HOW do I add that tab for searching words? You called it a Search Panel I think. That would help a lot.
Thank you.

Click on (or drag and drop) the search icon (magnifying glass) on the left of the universal input box/go box/command box on the toolbar of the application to open the standard search panel.

This is the icon MJ is referring to

Fair enough - apologies, I misunderstood.
If it happens again, please post a screenshot (using the paperclip icon in the forum editor) to show what you are describing

Excellent! That will work just fine. Thank you!
