I got an email offering me a Free Christmas book but the link takes me to a sales page which does have a single christmas book... A Light Has Dawned: Meditations on Advent and Christmas but it is $11.99 not free.

I saw that too... must be the Canadian exchange rate. [;)]
Maybe is a mistake because the actual free book is Black’s commentary on Colossians if I’m not mistaken.
DAL
I, like DAL, figured the free book was the Black's commentary, but found it annoying because the link took me to a page of all sorts of stuff for sale. The email created the expectation that was just about a free book.
Same here, now I need something to pick up my spirit (other then spirits).
Clickbait to bring you to the sale page.

It is actually Mark that is free

Yeah, that one! I got them confused since I recently upgraded the bundle and the only missing volume was Colossians.
Seems weird that they would advertise a commentary on Mark as a ”Christmas book.” Matthew or Luke would make more sense in that regard...
I'm sorry, but this is beneath the integrity which Logos should be showing. They've taken the Free Book of the Month which has been available since Dec 1 and now sent out an email proclaiming this as a free Christmas Book. It's deceptive and frankly, made me upset when I clicked on the link to only find that it's the regular Free Book of the Month.

It is a bit weird from one perspective. But for those of us who use one of the three year lectionaries, we are starting the year of Mark (with lots of inserts from John), and so a commentary on Mark makes a lot of sense as a Christmas gift - even if we will not use it that much for Christmas itself.
Yup, clickbaity email. You get it even if you've already received the free ebook (BNTC). Thankful for the free ebook, but not so for the unnecessary emails... Just the state of FL marketing; gotta limit the attention we give them.
Totally agree! This was uncalled for. I appreciate getting the free book of the month earlier, but I didn't need to waste time clicking on this email, as if it was "something new" that was being offered.

The Free Book on the link is different to the one on the Free Book of the Month page.
As we move into Year B in the RCL I found the offer of a free commentary on Mark both considered (not a usual word I would use about Logos's offers) and helpful.
I have no objection to them surrounding a free book with offers of merchandise to purchase - to me that is just common sense.
It seems weird because you are interpreting the advertisement incorrectly. A free Christmas book doesn’t mean that it’s a book about Christmas; it means it’s a book you get for free for Christmas. It’s like if someone told you you’re going to get a free Christmas laptop it doesn’t mean the laptop has content about Christmas. Does that make sense? To further illustrate, take for instance “the Logos Christmas sale” — it doesn’t mean all the items on the sale are about Christmas because there are some topic/resources about marriage and other stuff; so it means it’s a sale that it’s going on during the Christmas season.
It all boils down to “poor word choice” in the advertisement. Clarity has never been a strong attribute in the world of sales!

No, it doesn't.* The Logos Christmas Sale is on right now, and the Christmas season doesn't begin until December 25.**
*If it does, it's false advertising.
**Yes, I do intend to continue pointing this out on the forums ad nauseam, because Advent is still a thing.

I found an amazing explanation of what's going on - you won't believe it!
