Dear YHWH...save me from FL!!!!

I recently had to load Logos onto my new computer, and L8 is what downloaded. Up to that point, I was only using L7 on my Win10 laptop. When I next booted my laptop, it updated to L8 as well. I am just now looking at LHI on my laptop and noticing something horrific that appeared out of the ether. Suddenly, all of my NASB notes are now appearing in my LHI. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. I'm doing my best to contain my roiling emotions and so I'm here asking how I can undo this travesty. My interlinear is NOT the place for all of my in-Bible notes...it is a place for quiet background study. I should see nothing but text...not this circus...

Aside from the fact that I NEVER ASKED for this intrusion into my sacrosanct space, this incursion now makes it impossible for me to recognize and discern where the tiny handful of notes I natively embedded in LHI are within this technicolor cacophony. So, directly stated, how to I regain my previous LHI space while not interfering with my NASB space?

You should click on the visual filter icon and clear checks on the following:

If you right mouse hover on those items in the drop down you will see another drop down on the right that allows you to clear this for all resources, which I did and then only selected them for the Bibles I want them to show up on.

    Hope this helps.

I would expect FL to have already figured this out, considering the debacle that was the NASB conversion from verse-by-verse to paragraph form without any warning to users (amongst other issues), but they CAN'T just make changes to the way the program handles data and input with no regard for the fact that thousands of people have literally organized and developed systematized approaches to handling their input to the software AS IT ALREADY EXISTS. This kind of thing can upend years of work.

    Hi David

If I understand you correctly, I'm not sure John's suggestion will completely address what you are looking for.

You probably need to ensure that Notes and Highlights (Corresponding) is deselected as well

You should click on the visual filter icon and clear checks on the following:

Those boxes are not checked in my program.

However, based on this clue (see hot pink highlight)...

...I tried clicking on the button that says "corresponding"...

...and the highlights go away. As best as I can tell, that doesn't affect my in-text notes in my Bible.

Thanks, Graham (and John). I figured someone would post that before I finished my post. Appreciate the input.

Just to explain my reaction...I've already experienced changes to the Logos software implemented by FL that have either wiped out my entire method of operation or put it on extinction watch. Anytime I see something like this, it is very much like an existential crisis. I'm glad this had a simple solution, but in the past (and present in terms of on-going condition) I've basically been told I was out-of-luck when a random decision was made. The truly irritating thing is that there really isn't a tangible reason why my concerns can't be addressed and rectified...they just AREN'T.

At least this one worked out. [:)]

    David,

I hope you take this as intended... I have had bad experiences with car dealerships when taking my car in for maintenance, and as such was wary and probably not very considerate when dealing with the people at the dealership. I assumed the worst and acted as such. So I get it. However, then I got to know the people I was dealing with and decided that assuming best intent was best because... mistakes happen, sometimes more than once but in the end most people I deal with just want to be given a little grace. I am far from perfect I am sorry that you feel your concerns have not been addressed. I hope you do not feel this is condescending or arrogant as that was not my intent. If you do, then I apologize.

John, I have no issues with you. I do feel like FL has hung me out to dry. Wish I didn't feel that way, but with ten$ of thou$and$ inve$ted in Logos, the half-dozen program elements that I utilize constantly in L3 still haven't been incorporated into the recent builds. Probably never will. That's why I get real twitchy and touchy any time I see some new feature alter my normal operating procedure. I've been burned and my pain has done nothing but persist.

I have one function that I lost between L3 and L4 - user generated timelines. May I ask what the functions that you used in L3 that have not been put into L4-L9? Just curious as to what functions Faithlife failed to value.

My understanding of at least one of David's issues with L4 forward is that it is no longer possible to see the entirety of his notes in a popup window (rather they appear in a scrolling one)

The major missing one (as I understand it) is that Notes tooltip popups are no longer full-screen: https://community.logos.com/forums/p/197211/1142522.aspx#1142522

Sounds like we need a feedback.faithlife.com item for resizable Note tooltips. (I don't use Notes, so I can't be bothered to make it.)
