Duplicate entries & typos in Factbook: list here
It's obvious from looking at the Factbook, which is drawn from many different sources, that many duplicate entries have been merged and lots of things have been fixed.
Some duplicates and other errors remain.
We might as well consolidate ones we notice in a single thread.
I'll start:
1. John Milbank & John Milbank (Anglican Theologian) (bio.johnmilbank & bk.%25JohnMilbank_Person)
2. Vincent Ferrer should be "Saint Vincent Ferrer". (bio.saintvincentferrer)
3. John Ireland & John Ireland (Roman Catholic leader) (bio.JohnIreland & bk.%25JohnIreland1.Person)
4. William James & William James (American Pragmatist philosopher) (bio.WilliamJames & bk.%25WilliamJames_Person) [Also typo: "devleoped"]
5. There are a lots of entries with "SJ" as a middle name; they're all wrong. Those are all Jesuits, and SJ is their postnomial. This also occurs with other religious orders/congregations, with post-nomials that include "OP" and "OFM", as well as "CP" & "CSB" & "OFS" (one each). Note that sometimes the postnomials in Factbook are "Op" or "Ofs", etc.
[If you're wondering how to get the funky bio.whatever/bk.%whatever and such, which presumably has no duplicates, it's the article reference available by clicking on the three dots followed by "Information" to see the citation data.]

Under "Lord's Supper, Cultural Ontology" 1 Cor 1:17-26 is listed as a Key Passage - it should be chapter 11 rather than chapter 1.
Thanks Robert, we'll get that fixed.
The theme Jesus' Epiphany in Key Passages includes only two of the three epiphanies that are celebrated - Wedding at Cana is missing. See CCC 528 for confirmation.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
Adolf Schlatter is listed as both Other Protestant and Lutheran. I believe Lutheran is the more accurate despite the complexity of the German state church.
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

Not sure what you're referring to here, MJ. Could you put this in a new thread with a title like "Missing Event from Jesus' Epiphany" and provide more details/links/screenshots?

The tagging of "Mark" is terribly inconsistent. There are many references to the evangelist on the Factbook page for the Mark of the Beast...
Not a duplicate entry, but the opposite.
The entry for "Paul Cain" has both material about the pastor Paul Cain, as well as the pulp fiction writer Paul Cain. They're not the same person.

The date (1626) in the second article is incorrect and should be fixed.

Ran into an odd one today. It appears that "Joh Konrad Wilhelm Loehe (Gymnasium)" is the same as "William Loehe".
As much as I want to claim him for my Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod, he was a Bavarian Lutheran. He sent quite a few missionaries to LCMS, but actually started by working with the Joint Synod of Ohio before working with Missouri, and after working with Missouri, his followers set up the Iowa Synod. So label him Lutheran instead of LCMS.
"William" is the article that includes the works published in Logos. But the "Gymnasium" is the fuller article on him.

I recommend using the Copy Location as URL option from the Factbook panel menu.

Sorry but I can't resist. I suggest that the Respond section be added to Factbook pages so that one can report the problem where you find it and the URL is handled automatically. But I am too old and too polite to say "I told you so ..."[6]
Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."
We've had a lot of discussion about how to best capture user feedback, but this didn't make it in time for launch. I expect you'll see an improvement here in the near future.
As long as what I and others have contributed in this thread doesn't get lost, that sounds good to me.
“The trouble is that everyone talks about reforming others and no one thinks about reforming himself.” St. Peter of Alcántara
L2 lvl4 (...) WORDsearch, all the way through L10,
Well, I still share MJ's thought that the feedback section directly in Factbook was a great tool (well, for reporting things, obviously it's a "Fire and Forget" type of feature, like reporting typos, with no loopback. Forum threads might be better for that, but this will be a hurdle most users won't jump over, so not having the direct feedback section will keep issues underreported.)
By chance I saw today that
are the same and should be merged.
Couldn't an intern in one of your Hack-a-tons write a script that runs through all of Factbook and with some intelligent algorithm ranks possible duplicates for a prioritized "to be checked with EYEBALL-tool"-list? Five entries for John Smith, if there are, are possibly legit (well, maybe a portion of them, and the algorithm may look at works authored or other relevant info), but how many Lutheran church historians named John/Johann L. Mosheim would we expect?
Have joy in the Lord!
