startup up
Launching the desktop app leads me to an error message which tells me that I have resources and books that require Logos 8.17 SR2. I can't find out which version I have because it will not permit me to go further. When I attempt to download and install the version required, it tells me I am up to date. I now have a valuable program which I cannot use? Is there a solution?

Hi Frank - and welcome to the forums

Please expand on this.
Does Logos not continue to load, does it crash, what state is it left in?

What version of Windows are you running?

I wouldn't say it crashes, it just stops. The window that explains that it needs to update only gives a button for exit. It will not load after that. Every time I launch it the program, it does this.
I am running, windows 20h2, OS build 1942.685.

Have you tried the Windows OS application repair function? That fixes some similar problems.

There is no option for that, only uninstall. Modify button is not active, grayed out.

Please enable diagnostic logging and upload the logos.log file created after a start attempt.
Use the paperclip icon in the forum editor to upload the file
Details of enabling and using diagnostic logging are at https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/articles/360027869132-How-to-Enable-and-Submit-Log-Files

At work right now. The surface I was using is at home. My surface at work doesn't have that problem. Both run the same programs. I sync them daily.
Just upgraded to Logos 9, so, no problems any more.
