Macbook internal drive to an external SD card.

Had anyone tired to move Logos from an internal drive (Macbook air 128 G, bought in 2015) to an external SD card? Logos is too big and it constantly make my computer clashes. I also receive a "low disk space warning" . What I woudl really want to do it

1. completely erase Logos on my Macbook air and free up those space.

2. move/ re-download everything in Logos to an external SD card.

I am not good in handling computer and will be really helpful if anyone can give a step-by-step way. Thank you!

No for moving all of Logos / Verbum to an external drive, but have relocated over 80% of Logos / Verbum storage used to an external fast SSD (has provided opportunity to replace external storage after my MacBook Air made a quick exit from my car that caused external SSD to break up into many pieces). Thankful for Logos & Verbum now having option to remove downloaded resources from device (free up storage space):

Select Resources to remove in Library, option click on Downloaded causes "Remove from Device" pop-up to appear so can click "Remove from Device" to remove selected Resources.

Logos Wiki Install in different folder or drive includes:

Relocate your WebCache folder (WebCache has downloaded media files that are primarily read by Logos)
Relocate your Resources folder (Resources folder has downloaded resource files that are primarily read by Logos)

I have done so in Windows and it was a disaster. SD Cards are not designed for the fast file access you need in Logos, and indexing is painfully slow. They are not supported by Faithlife, so you cannot ask for help if you have problems.

An external SSD drive would be more reliable and fast, but would still be unsupported.

If not willing to get a larger internal drive, then remove resources as indicated above. You need at least 15-20% free space to avoid disk warnings, so try to uninstall unnecessary applications and delete temporary files. When you have removed enough resources, you can get more space by re-indexing (use the command Rebuild Index).

If not, even though unsupported, running Logos from an external SSD might work very well. I'm doing this on Windows currently. Removing resources would only make a big impact if one were to take out a large percentage of the library - or select based on size, which means resources containing lots of embedded pictures go first.

MBA's (which is what the OP has) do not allow for this. For that reason, I made sure to purchase a 512GB MBA when I got a new one late last year.

New Apple silicon models do not have any user upgrade options. System On a Chip (SOC) includes processors, memory, and SSD.

Personally relocated Resources folder when Logos & Verbum required entire purchased library to be downloaded. Hence, my Resources folder was using ~80% within my Application Support Logos4 folder plus was safer to relocate folder since resource files are primarily read only by application (so avoids database corruption caused by USB interface instability issues). Thankful for Logos & Verbum change to allow user selection of library resources downloaded on a device. Also upgraded MacBook Air (MBA) from 2011 MBA having 128 GB to 2013 MBA having 256 GB (also changed to faster i7 processor with 8 GB Ram). My desktop Logos 9 uses 147 GB of space (all my library resources downloaded) while my MBA uses 38 GB (about 8 % of my library resource files are downloaded). For MBA migration, did a fresh minimal install of Logos 8 (changed installation id to be different than desktop, which allowed me to selectively choose library resources to download and change program setting to not download new resources). Subsequently have upgraded MBA Logos 8 to 9.

Hindsight 20/20: Logos 4 Mac (initial release on OS X) used Logos4 for Application Support folder name, which could not be easily changed when Logos 5 for Mac was released so Logos4 continues to be used by newer Logos applications on macOS.
