When did the hyperlink box in the Notes get fixed to allow for hyperlinking to Logos resources? YEAH!!! No more paste to word---format---paste back to notes!!!! How in the world did I miss this?
I had not realized that either. After all the complaining on the forum, you think the people at Logos would have made a bigger deal of it in the release notes. Or was it there (in the release notes), and I just didn't realize that was what they were referring to?
Let me guess... you actually have been using Logos as a study tool, rather than a toy. [:P] I couldn't resist!
Edited below:
I forget which release it came out but what I noticed a couple weeks ago was the ability to simply place the location of the file and Logos automatically converts it over to the proper protocol.
I sure wish we could drag files right into the hyperlink space....or better, into the exact location in the note and have a hyperlink created!
I haven't been under a rock (I don't think) and I missed it too! I just looked at the recent release notes and it appears that this fix wasn't announced (or perhaps they fixed it by accident?)
Well, if it happened by accident, then let's pray for more accidents (of this sort)!

What's the difference?
When you're playing your comments in the forum seem to manifest by the hundreds ([:|]), but when you're working you're doing your studies under a rock. [:D]
it must be in 4.0c
sorry to be a dunce, but, can you show me how this works?
I missed it, too. So now I have to go try it.
I'd have been skeptical if your post was dated April 1, but it's not. [;)]
Don't have time for a screen shot, and though I know someone else will I will simply describe it. This assumes you are running the current Beta.
Open a note file and open a resource you want to put a link to in the note file. With the Resource open to the location you want to link to hit the context menu (little down arrow in the upper left of resource pane, go to the bottom of the menu and select "URL" after the "copy as". Once you have set this as your copy option all you need to do is press CTL + Alt + C to copy it to the clipboard next time. Now go over to your not file, type some text. Highlight one of the words in the text. Place your cursor in the "Hyperlink" box on the panel's toolbar and hit CTL + V. Now the text you highlighted is hyperlinked to the resource location you selected.

Those who are a fool only one day a year bother me. I try to be more consistent.

Carey,
Be sure 'Copy Location as' is set to URL in the resource you want to link to (it the default so you are probably already set):
Navigate to the place in the resource you want to link to and hit Ctrl+Alt+C.
Open the Note file and type in the text you want to turn into a hyperlink: here I've typed 'OTSS: Exodus 1-4'. Now highlight that text and put your cursor in the hyperlink box and hit Ctrl V. Hit Enter. When you click away from the note you just made you'll see that the text has changed colors to blue text and you can click on it while holding down the Ctrl key to jump to that hyperlink spot.
Now the text you highlighted is hyperlinked to the resource location you selected.
How can I use the hyperlink? I could make a word in the note highlighted. When I click left botton on the word, the hyperlink box is populated with the link information. What do we do with the information? Can we use the information to copy the resource into a document or another note? Or can we jump to the resource with the hyperlink information?
The answer was given while I was typing my question. Thank you.
now that it's hyperlinked you can Ctrl+Click and it'll take you to that resource (and the location that you linked)
thanks Mark!
If I understood, this function is still tied up in a beta release?
Correct. It still does not work on the current 4.0b release.
so is it working correctly in 4.0c ?
Does it actually open the specific resource? (even if it is a Bible which is not your preferred Bible)
I just tried this to open to Hell in the NNTB, when I right clicked on the hyperlink though it opened Logos3 to the home page?? What am I doing wrong?
The precedent between L3 and L4 depends upon the order of loading. Do a search on the forums on modifying your registry and follow the instructions.
wiki.logos.com/hyperlinks has instructions for modifying your registry to make the libronixdls protocol point towards Logos 4.

The specific link I created and tested (to a non-bible resource) worked just fine.
thanks
EDIT: From the wiki -
To fix this manually open Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\libronixdls\shell\open\command, and change the (Default) value to:"C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Logos4\Logos4.exe" %1
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\libronixdls\shell\open\command
"C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Logos4\Logos4.exe" %1
I don't appear to have the folder 'libronixdls' I do have L3 installed. Forgive my ignorance
As far as the limited testing I've done, yes.
Does it actually open the specific resource?
Since you create a link from a specific resource, yes. Note that creating a hyperlink isn't the same thing as adding a note to a Bible or another resource. One noticeable difference is that no little yellow square appears next to the text you created the hyperlink to as happens when you add a note to a resource.

Funny, I thought we made sure we mentioned this in the last release notes ... look at that we kind of did.
For Rich Text Editor:
Really we do try to listen to you guys. You can thank Scott Alexander for doing the hard work of making the editor better. There should be a few more fixes in the next few releases too.
Thanks Kevin & Mark !
Now, now. It's obvious that you buried it. I was waiting for a phone call with the news. [:)]

Try this location: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Software\Classes\libronixdls\shell\open\command, I don't understand why but sometimes the registry key is in different places in the registry. If it isn't there run a search on your registry for Libronixdls until you find the folder(s) with the appropriate key.
When I read these I didn't interpret them as applying to the hyperlink box.... not that this matters, I'm glad it works now! [:)]
What's that?? I don't have it listed in my tools menu. How do I get one??
You programmers need to learn to talk user and them we'd understand. (Maybe.)
Thanks for fixing it.

Found the right folder and changed the data according to the wiki but still couldn't get it to work. Deleted L3, now have no libronixdls folder in my registry editor but hyperlinking still doesn't work?
This is definitely something that will need to be fixed for the official releases of 4.0c.

The hyperlink protocol is something that is interpreted by Windows which then sends the information to the program. Uninstalling Libronix probably removed the Libronixdls protocol from your computer thus making the hyperlinks unintelligible to Windows. Did you run the find tool to look for other occurrences of the \libronixdls\shell\open\command?
I can only recommend re-installing Libronix and then looking through each occurrence of libronixdls. Some people have gotten it to work without including the "" around the path to the Logos 4 exe.
This is an issue with two programs making changes to this registry key. It appears that Logos 4 doesn't modify the key after initial installation where as Libronix may check it when it updates.
I did have a look for other occurrences of the folder and right path. Tried it with and without the "". It puzzles me that L4 needs L3 though. So L4 hasn't the ability to hyperlink on its own yet. And changing the registry key isn't so much a case of re prioritizing hyper linking t oL4, but L4 actually borrows the ability from L3?
I'll wait around a bit and see if an upcoming release enables hyperlinking without the use of L3
