Need new cell phone

My old Samsung Note 4 won't let me load Logos on it. I've had it for 7 years and time to replace. Anyone have an idea for a phone that will work well with Logos with a large display and decent resolution? I love the software and want to take it mobile.

If you’ve enjoyed the Note 4, you’ll absolutely love the Note 20 Ultra!

And congratulations for hanging on to a phone for 7 years. Wow!

What about a Pixel XL? Potentially better/longer support for system updates.

I am not an android user and can't provide too much help unless you are looking at iPhones. However, since you kept your previous phone for seven years, I assume that "longevity" might be a stated goal of yours. Here is my generic answer:

Android device makers don't always keep up with android updates. You will want to look for a phone running the LATEST version of android along with a company with a track record of keeping their phones up to date. Your ability to hang on to your new phone and still utilize Logos in the future will be dependent upon its ability to update to newer versions of Android.

HERE is the current requirements for Android and HERE are the current requirements for iOS. iPhones released in 2014 are still able to get the latest updates for Logos, as long as they are running iOS 13.

I am using Samsung S6, a 5 years old model, and it has loaded Logos Android app, and it runs fine.

Veli - that channel is old. I don’t believe you are up to date. I’ll send you a message.

Veli will need to clarify, but I think he is suggesting the Samsung "S" line. You would not want to get the S6 if you are hoping to have it for a long time.

Well, I just wanted to say that the Logos app works in a 5 year old Samsung Android phone, can't recall the last update but has not updated the operating system for a long time...

I am not sure what phone to suggest, but actually I am thinking seriously to buy a Samsung Note 20 5g.  (whether ultra or not  I am not sure).

It has a good screen and I think the pen will also be useful.

I have the Samsung Galaxy S8+ that works great with the Logos app. I used to have a Note 4 before I bought this one. It was my favorite phone before this one. Now this one's my favorite. I got the S8+ because the screen was roughly the same size as the Note 4. I don't know if you can get a refurbished one or if they're not selling them anymore but I've had mine for over 3 years (almost 3 1/2) and it still works like new.

Thanks for your suggestion and help. I bought a Samsung A50 today. Midrange phone but I think it will work well with Logos. I have never really used a cell phone much since I have a landline and am always at my desk. But I had a great phone and Tracfone service for $6 a month. I am new to Logos as they took over Wordsearch which was my prior Bible software company. I love Logos but could not get it to work with the old phone and I miss having resources when I am church or out. So I got a lot of suggestions in a few hours and think I made a good choice.

Welcome to the forums William. Be sure to look at some of the training articles for the mobile app. https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us

The A50 should be compatible with Faithlife's mobile apps for a few years. Don't hold me to that, but that's what I expect.

    Get Samsung Galaxy S20 FE

It has all the top tier specs but with the Covid price (cheap)

You can get it free or $200 USD with trade in... vs regular S20 that cost $600+

Today I did buy a Samsung Note 20 5g (not Ultra). I hope I' can use the Logos application in it for the next 5 years. Just a few hours now, but I already love the pen. For example the highlighting is easier.[8-|]

I have s8+. I was looking to get something with loooong battery life. I was eyeing the S20 ultra...  How's the battery life on yours?

    Hello, xnman!

With the S20 Ultra packing a 5000mAh battery, that really should be all anyone needs. However, with Samsung promising support for 3 generations of Android operating system upgrades, you may want to consider the S21 Ultra. The S20 comes with Android 10 and the S21 comes with Android 11, meaning the S21 Ultra should be upgradeable longer. Oh, and the S21 Ultra now supports the S Pen. Good luck with whatever you choose!

The charging seems to be fast but I am not sure about the battery life. Recently I've done many installations etc. There are many ways to improve the battery life, but when reading, the screen inevitably uses power.

I've heard that the model marketed in USA has a processor that uses less power that the one marketed in Europe.
