Devotion choices in the mobile app
I have an Android phone, Logos 9 (via Faithlife Connect subscription) and a desire to read The Songs of Jesus: A Year of Daily Devotions in the Psalms as a devotional. I see on the app the choices of "Devotionals" and "Start A Devotional". For some reason, I can't scroll the "Start A Devotional" list as I used to be able to do. The titles no longer appear and the devotional I want to use isn't in the Default list of devotionals.
Is there a way to force the app to include Songs of Jesus in the default list or some way to access the "Start A Devotional" list so that I can use it as a devotional, rather than making it a "reading plan" out of it. In the library it appears as a devotional so it should be possible. It appears as a devotional on my computer as well as a reading plan, but not my phone, which only lists it as a reading plan.
Thoughts, ideas, suggestions? I am ready and willing to listen. Thank you in advance.
Don

Thanks for the recommendation. I just purchased it and will try to help you troubleshoot, although I am on iOS. It is working for me as expected.

I don't quite understand. Is there a list which you can't scroll, or is there no list at all (which is why you can't scroll)?

All calendar devotionals in your library <should> appear. There isn't a way (or need) to make a single resource appear, so we will have to trouble shoot the general problem.
Have you tried killing the app, restarting the device, and opening it back up again?

some way to access the "Start A Devotional" list so that I can use it as a devotional,
I forgot to add: Since this is a calendar devotional, any time it is opened up from scratch in the mobile library, it will open up to the current date. So although you (for whatever reason) can't access it from the home page, you can simply open it up from the library and use it that way. If you close the tab that the resource is in, when you open it back up again, it will open to the right date (bypassing any skipped days).

Thank you JT,
I guess I should have added the fact that I have been using Logos since 2004 (Series X) and know how the program works quite well. In this case, the mobile app does not allow me to choose a devotional other than those listed in the "Choose Devotional" menu. There is a set of titles under the heading "Devotionals" which appear to be default. There is also a heading "Start a Devotional" below them, but the words are only half showing (which would indicate that there is something below them) and there is no way to scroll down to the list (if there is one - actually there is one as I have seen it before, but currently it is gone). So, either I choose from the default or find a way to get to that list. That is what I am trying to do.
From experience, iOS and Android each have their own quirks. This is simply something those who set up the menu in the first place will address, assuming they are able as there have been times that they chalk it off to an incompatibility due to an "older" version of the operating system. (Think Logos 9 on Windows 7)
Anyway, if the programmers get wind of this, perhaps there is a workaround to get to that second menu.
Thanks again,
Don

It appears to be a flaw in the program. There is a heading of "Start a Devotional" (which previously had a list underneath) and now is only halfway showing (the title, not the list). Sort of like it is stuck and can't scroll down. My guess: It is a programming flaw which may have been exacerbated by a particular Android version.
So, next question: Is there a way to take a book and make it into a devotional? Yes, I can do the "reading plan" approach, but this should not be necessary as the book I am looking for is listed as a "devotional" and should, therefore, be included under the list of devotionals. It is already set up (divided) for each day and doesn't seem to have any reason it could not be on the list of devotionals.
Here's hoping there is an answer.

I've just tried this on my Android phone and it works as you describe - I can see the complete list of devotionals and scroll down as required.
I don't have the specific resource you mentioned so that can't check that one specifically.
So there may be some phone-specific issue here.
I expect the developers would need to see logs to diagnose this.

Did you mean to add something to this suggestion? I do not want to be condescending, but what you are saying does not apply to my problem with (the Android version of) the Mobile app. I can access it from the home page if I set it up as a reading plan only. I am trying to set it up as a devotional since it is a daily devotional resource and would fit with my other devotionals I use each day. Thank you for your suggestions, but this really will likely be a programmer's fix.

That has crossed my mind, but while the computer version stores all of my modifications in the cloud, I am not certain the mobile app will do this as well. I think if I decide to so something along these lines, I will delete the cache first and then go for broke. Personally, I would still like to hear from the programmers as I have seen many changes in the last 17 years and many have made this software package less desirable. I can't change horses now as I have invested (if you can call it that) over $16,000.00 in it. (Yes, $16K) So, will do my best to find a way to make things work so I will have a positive thing to say, rather than negative.
PS. This is in response to your first reply. I just did them out of order.

The mobile app does sync to the cloud.

You may or may not. The forums aren't the primary means of communication with FL. The forums are primarily a means of crowdsourcing help from fellow users.
Deleting the app is often the best fix for many issues on mobile. That may or may not help in your situation, but let's start from scratch.
- What specific version of the app are you running?
- What specific version of Android are you running?
- Can you post a screen shot of the issue?

Well, it looks like using the "report a problem" may produce some results. So, I am taking your advice JT and sending a message to the programmers. I sincerely hope they have a fix for this, but looking over the forum posts, it appears that I am far from alone when it comes to reading plans and devotionals. Sounds like it is a flaw in the program when determining what is a "reading plan" and what is a "devotional". We'll see. Thanks for the help and I will post the fix if they come up with one.

Well, I sent in a request to Logos Support. I then received this reply:
Dear Don,
Thank you for sending your logs.
We are busy working on solving this issue. The fix will automatically become available in a forthcoming update. I apologize for the inconvenience in the meantime.
Sincerely,Joe McCune
Now, it is wait and see. Based on his response, it appears I am not alone (as I suspected).
Here's hoping they come up with a solution.
