How do I rename the Title of one of my notebooks?

Frank, I am unsure what question you are trying to ask. Your title seems unrelated to your post: 

I am not sure how to get to a list of the LOGOS 8 notebooks.

Click on the "docs" menu and filter for "notebooks."

Why can’t this be done in the documents menu?

I do not see the triple vertical dots. I am on the windows version of Logos 8.8 SR1 How did you get there?

Are you sure you're in the notebooks section of the Notes tool - or in the filter section? Look very closely into Mark Smith' screenshot, he indicated the notebook section tab with a red arrow

Finally got it!  The diagram is right but some of the minor steps to get there were not mentioned. They were probably obvious to along time MVP.

can you please explain how you got there. I cannot rename a notebook for the life of me cannot get mine to look like Mark's screen shot. I am using the new Logos 9 so perhaps things have changed but it should not be so difficult to simply rename a notebook.

Got it. Took some clicking around but got there. Just don't ask me to explain how as I'd be hard pressed to repeat it. LOL

Open a notebook.

On the far left hand side of the menu bar of the notebook, left of Search, click on the three horizontal line icon.

Then click on the notebook shaped icon.

You will then see a list of your notebooks.

Find the notebook you wan to rename and single click on it to open it in the RH panel.

You will now see the three vertical dot icon.

Click on that for the option to rename it.

Right-click -> Rename would be so intuitive!

Following your direction, particularly the order, caused the three dots to appear.  I've been at the same location without the dots.  But, if you open the notebook that is to be changed, and then follow the directions, the 3 dots will appear for only the open notebook.  You will not see dots for any other notebook.  That is what I found in Logos 9.

I have added a suggestion to Faithlife Feedback to enable renaming in documents using the right-click menu, which I think would be more intuitive. Illustrated. Only 6 steps, including 1 secret door. A right-click would be so much easier.

1. Select "Docs"

2. Select the Notebook you want to change.

3. Secret door: Click on the grayed-out Notebook icon next to the Filter icon (here I have floated the panel to make the screen capture easier)

4. Next to your selected Notebook you will see the elusive three dots. All downhill from here...

5. Select "Rename." Told you it would get easier [;)]

6. Type your new name. Press enter. Done.

I don't count this as a step. I just wanted to illustrate the change taking place here in this example from "Luke" to "Luke demo."

Note that the tab title (top-most of the 3 red circles) might not change as soon as you press Enter, but don't worry, it'll catch up eventually.

Glad you got there with Mark's answers. It took me a few tries as well. For others who may stop by, here is a step-by-step guide, including one secret door. Right-click would be so much easier.

1. Select Docs.

2. Double-click to open the Notebook you want to change.

3. Secret door: Click on the gray-out Notebook icon next to the Filter icon (here I have floated the panel to make screen capture easier).

4. Now you will see the elusive three dots next to the Notebook name. It's all downhill from here...

5. Left-click on the three dots and a drop-menu appears. Select Rename.

6. Type in the new name and press Enter. And you're done.

It might be worth adding that if the document is totally renamed (e.g. in your example removing the word "Luke"), then it will "disappear" (because it no longer matches the filter). If this happens, it is necessary to perform a new search using the renamed name of the notebook.

Thanks Michael. Actually tried up-voting on your proposal, but it's telling me that I need to log in first, and it's not accepting my username/password, even though I am literally logged in right this second to both logos.com and faithlife.com. One of the many mysteries of the Faithlife behemoth.

Yes, I seem to remember having to create a separate login for the feedback page. I think it might use a separate platform. As you say, one of the many mysteries...

I have an existing notebook which I wanted to share.  However, I wanted to put my initials in front of the name so that people on my family group would be able to see where the highlights and notes originated.  They would also be able to easily turn off my stuff.

I tried a few historical suggestions from the forums, but they would not work.

The Logos developers certainly hid this feature well!!

On some of my notebooks the "Rename" and "Share" options are greyed out. Why?

Are they notebooks that were shared others that you have picked up?
