LXX/MT searches (using the Göttingen Septuagint)

I am looking for some help concerning Hebrew/Greek and Greek/Hebrew searches:

When I perform a search on a Hebrew lemma in BHS to find all its occurrences, I want to see how this word is translated in the Göttingen Septuagint. This does not seem to be possible.

And similarly - when I perform a search on a Greek lemma in the Göttingen Septuagint, I want to see which Hebrew word it translates.

I can see which Hebrew term lies behind each of the Greek occurrences if I search in the Septuagint with Logos morphology (Ralph's), but since I have bought the GS to have the best critical text, I want to perform my searches in that text, not in Ralph's. Is there a way to do this?

I also know that I can find some information in the BWS translation circle, but it does not work to set GS as selected translation, and I want the results in a table, not as the circle, and I want them as lemmas...

Can someone here help me? Roll Eyes Perhaps I don't understand how to use the tools that I already own - or perhaps I will need to buy some extra tool to perform this kind of searches?

You'd do well to wait for another answer.

But my method is use my tagging (or collection) for my Gottingen volumes. Then set the tag (or collection) as the compare, when searching the MT. Not pretty but works for me.

I'm not sure why your Gottingen search can't use a 'compare' to any of the MT texts ... as above, I have a tagging of hebrew texts which I can use for compares, to pick up the MT, DSS, and Samaritan.

We're talking 'Bible' searches, of course.

An idea is Bible Search of Lexham Hebrew Bible (LHB) and LXX (Septuagint) Bibles for Hebrew lemma:

Ralph's LXX has Hebrew reverse interlinear alignment. Clicking Ralph's LXX search result causes location change in a link set having Ralph's LXX in MultiView with Göttingen Septuagint (Text Series), LHB, and Lexham English Septuagint 2. Link Set has Göttingen Septuagint (Apparatus). MultiView allows GS text scrolling without changing link set location.

MultiView allows GS to disappear when Ralph's LXX has verse not available in GS: e.g. Proverbs.

Thanks! I haven't been aware of the Text Comparison Tool, if that is what you mean by 'compare'. I try to use it now, and it gives me the parallell texts I want, (as with my method of linking for instance Ralph's, GS and LHB )- but although I link this to the search window, the verse I click on in the search window is not displayed in the Text Comparison window, rather a new window with my preferred bible opens... How do you make this work?

Are the results you get with your method the entire bibleverses, so that If you search for Ruach in Hebrew, You get the text of all verses that contain that word, compared with the Greek version of all these same verses? Or do you somehow get the Greek word translating the Hebrew word (or vice versa) in the search window?

I apologise for being a rather slow learner when it comes to searching... [:$]

Thanks, it is very helpful to see how your screen looks when you do this, it makes it easier to do the same thing. But would you know if there is a way to get GS lemmas as part of the results in the search window when searching for Hebrew lemmas?( Like I have done with Ralph's below)... I'm offline, but I'll go thru the steps (no offense, if too simple):

1. First, tag your Gottingen volumes (or a collection).

2. As an example, go to an MT, and right-click a noun (keep simple)

3. On the left, select lemma; on the right, Search This Resource

4. That'd create a Bible search of the desired lemma in the MT

5. Select 'Verses' option (top-right of search), if not already selected

6. There's a selection box on the top-left ('Compare' ... what I called it!)

7. In the selection box, scroll down to your tagged (or collection) of Gottingen; select and press Enter (retry, if doesn't work; a bit iffy)

8. Displayed is your MT verses having the lemma, compared to associated Gottingen verses (if available; Gottingen not complete)

Going the opposite direction (search a lemma in Gottingen) works really nice 'compared' to a tagging (or collection) of hebrew, to quickly see variation in the greek and hebrew, both.

Reverse interlinear OR Bible Sense Lexicon tagging would need to be added to GS for search using Hebrew lemmas OR <Sense ...>

GS, Ralph's, LHB, ... can be searched using English glosses:

Would you mind taking a screenshot to show me how point 7 / 8 looks when you do this? It would be great if this method works better than what I already do...

As noted above, my Logos is offline. So, I took a picture. Last week was a discussion of 'forever' and its hebrew olem. So, in the example below (center of screen), I searched the hebrew, and then paired it to my tagged Gottingen volumes. The display is verse by verse found, paired to the respective Gottingen volume ... not pretty, but gets the job done.
