Reading Plans
For some reason, the reading plan only displayed the text for reading, i.e., I couldn't scroll up or down from the text. It was a completely different format. Was there a change?

Yes there was Charles, and is as you describe.
If you wish to view it the old way, from that plan page, click the 3dot icon in the top right (on Android at least, might be different on iPhone) and choose 'Open Resource' and that should take you to the relevant reference in your bible and have the traditional navigable reading plan markers.

Make sure you have "Scrolling view" turned on in your settings.

Thanks for the reply. I should’ve put this in version eight. Nonetheless, I checked I do have scrolling set to work.

I tried this. Nothing happened. It stayed in the new view of just the text from the reading plan. And I’d still be annoyed to make the extra click.
I hate this change. Hopefully you’ll be able to turn this feature on/off at some point.

Jay, it would be a big help if you included short quote from the post to which you are responding...we have a hard time figuring out which "this" in in view here.

Sorry.
I tried several times to use “open resource” to get to the view of the resource itself (not just the section of the day). One time it worked. The other times nothing happened at all.
I prefer the resource by itself because I almost always read a few sentences before/after the “assigned” reading.

create a layout. Open the resource. Make sure the reading plan filter is turned on. This functions like the old system. Use this layout for your devotionals and reading plans.

Yes I’ll do something like that as a workaround. It was just nice to be able to click on one of my reading plans from the home dashboard and have it the resource itself at the appropriate spot.

I have the same issue: the new update has just made some some new improvements, but sometimes, the last verse of a reading plan is not fully shown. Another issue is that when they added the previous/next button at the bottom of the page, the notes of the bible are sometimes hidden. Perhaps a new update could move farther down the said button.

Could you please explain how to "create a layout" in the mobile app? Or perhaps point me to a tutorial/

I’m still frustrated with this issue with the reading plans (links from homepage for reading plans on iOS going to isolated selections rather than to the resource itself at the appropriate passage). Current system works ok for a Psalms reading plan.
I’m using saved layouts as a workaround. But it’s a lot more clicks. It would be fewer with the “three dots>open resource“ workaround but for some reason “open resource“ only works about one of three times. I’ll probably just reinstall to see if that helps.
But I still don’t see what problem this change was trying to solve. People not liking context?

That's my take on it — most readers don’t care about the context. For those of us that do like to see the context and review what we've read the day before, we (1) added multiple extra clicks to our routine and (2) we lost the benefit of the Reading Plan cards on the home page. I cant understand why we can’t get the simple option of directly opening the resource from the card. That option would solve it IMO.
