Preaching Mode + Proclaim

I have bought into Logos and have been upgrading for years. I use it all the time for prep and preaching. Logos 9 now has "preaching mode" but you have to pay a subscription for proclaim to use slides. Not sure how preaching mode is any different than before unless you have proclaim.

I understand Logo isn't about giving things away because they need to stay in business but maybe consider making a low cost or free stripped down addition for streaming slides ONLY. As a pastor in a small town with a small church in California, one of our biggest problems is just trying to pay our christian school staff a live able wage.

Please consider in future updates, to add everything a pastor would need to present. We paid for the upgrade pleas allow us to us functions like "preaching mode" as they were attended without additional monthly or yearly cost.

    Hi John

I'm not sure I understand this so wanted to explore further.

As far as I know Preaching Mode is an integral part of Logos and, of itself, does not require the church to have a Proclaim subscription.

It presents a clean interface for preaching with controls to easily move backwards and forwards in a sermon, to change font size, to use a timer, to (optionally) show the slides generated within Sermon Builder.

The only relationship to Proclaim is that, if you already have Proclaim, you can now control Proclaim slides remotely from within the Logos app as opposed to having to have a separate Proclaim remote app.

Are you asking for the ability to project slides directly from within Logos preaching mode without needing to have Proclaim at all? If so, that would be quite a change to the way the overall software products are designed.

FYI in Verbum slides are not assumed - preaching mode does not assume Proclaim in any way..

Orthodox Bishop Alfeyev: "To be a theologian means to have experience of a personal encounter with God through prayer and worship."; Orthodox proverb: "We know where the Church is, we do not know where it is not."

I feel you, brother John. I pastor a small church as well, and choose to pay for some of these things out of my own pocket, because I believe they have value for us as a congregation.

No I am not asking that Logos (Faithlife) redesign software. Proclaim is a great piece of software for many churches. However, it’s not a good fit for us because of cost and no support staff to run it. Many pastors just need is to stream their slides from the sermon builder next to their notes like Logos 9 Mobile offers. Currently I have to build my sermon in Logos, edit it in MS Word before printing it and then save my slides as a PowerPoint file which I then convert to keynote for my iPad.

I was excited about the possibility of using "Logos 9" and "Logos 9 mobile" to save time (for prayer and additional studying) but found that if I wanted that to happen, I had to pay a subscription fee.

So I guess my question is, why Logos (Faithlife) cannot consider making a stripped-down edition of proclaim like they have with other apps.

If I am correct you can use a stripped-down version of the Logos program and mobile app without buying a bundle but there is no opinion for Proclaim. (outside a trial period)

A move like this could help Proclaim not hinder it. Some churches may start with the stripped-down edition and move up to a paid addition as I did with Logos. It's just a thought and a way to help both churches and Proclaim (Faithlife).

When using Preaching Mode on my Logos iPad app, clicking on a sermon slide works great--it comes up in Proclaim just fine. Can I blank that slide somehow?  We use Proclaim with our livestream so we need to be able to show a slide and then turn it off again without putting a new slide up.  Can I turn off / blank a slide when using Preaching Mode?

As far as I know that is not possible.

But I understand how it would be helpful. To explore further, please start a new thread

Thanks, Graham. I started a new thread under "Logos 9 Mobile"
