Timeline Visual Filter missing from ESV (Bug)

For some reason the Timeline is missing from the Visual Filter in the ESV, but it appears in the NASB and other Bibles.

Am I going blind? I expected to see it below the Speaker labels option, as for other Bibles.

The "Timeline events" visual filter shows places in the text where there is an actual tagged date reference. Since the Bible text never has specific dates, many Bibles will never see the filter options.

NASB95 has some date references in the intro text:

I usually leave most of the built in Visual Filters off, so I did not understand how the Timeline events visual filter worked. I was sure that I saw flags in the Bible text before, but obviously I am mistaken.

The Context menu shows event tags, which I assume are linked to the verses. I had assumed that the Visual Filter would display these event flags. It would be useful to allow this, just like the Speaker labels.

Is there a way to go from the Event tag in the Context menu to the date on the Timeline? I would like to be able to immediately locate a tagged event in relation to other events on the Timeline.

There are a number of options. If you select the Biblical Event in the context menu, you should see something like this:

You can navigate to Factbook. If there is an associated timeline event, you should see a date in the list of subtitles on the Factbook page which you can click to open the Timeline tool.

There is also a link to the Biblical Event Navigator, which will show you an Interactive with all of the Biblical Events in a hierarchy.

Finally, you will find direct links to the Timeline tool for any timeline events that are associated with the Biblical Event.

This is helpful navigation information.

It is not clear to me why some events allow one to go directly to the Timeline from the Context menu, whereas others do not.

In your example from Exod 1:8, "The Israelites become slaves in Egypt" has a timeline event, but "Slavery in Egypt" and "The Exodus from Egypt" do not.

"The Israelites become slaves in Egypt" and "Slavery in Egypt" seem to be equivalent entries. I am not sure why both are tagged as events, but only one has a timeline entry.

It appears that "The Exodus from Egypt" is a higher level event entry that warrants a Factbook entry, but not a Timeline entry, even though it is tagged as an event.

"The Israelites Become Slaves in Egypt" is listed as a Timeline event in the Factbook, but there is no link to the Timeline.

Isaiah 6:1, refers to "the year of King Uzziah’s death." I would expect to see the event "Uzziah King of Judah Dies" in the Context menu, since it is a timeline event. The events in that verse are "Isaiah sees a vision in the temple", "Isaiah’s early prophetic career", Divided Kingdom" and "Fall of Israel". All may be relevant, but the specific event described in the verse is not in the Context menu at all.

I understand that this is a complex task to link all of these events to the biblical text and the Factbook and the Timeline. So please accept this as an attempt to improve the product
