Search window hopes between two panes? Can I pin it to just one?

I have two panes open + the info pane (far right) on my main layout. Since discovering the shortcut key Alt+S opens the search tab, I close the search tab when finished and use the hot key when I need to search. Problem is, the search tab (whenever I open it) hops between the left pane and the middle pane. Open it once: left pane. Close it. Open it again: the middle pane. 

Is there any way to "pin" it to a particular pane so every time I launch the search tab it always opens in the middle pane?

    No, but you can set the search there and keep reusing it by setting "send searches here" in the panel menu.  This method assumes you leave the search panel open.

    That does work. If I keep the search tab where I want it then wherever I am Alt+S opens it. It's funny, though. If I close the search tab and open with shortcut, the cursor is immediately ready to type in the box (but the search tab bounces back and forth each time). But, if I leave it open and use the shortcut, it stays put, but the cursor is not immediate ready in to type. 

    I guess I have to decide which is worse. I image since I like using the mouse least of all I will have to deal with the schizophrenic bouncing back and forth.

    Maybe so, but it is doubtful that the search parameters are always ready for use. So you have to use the mouse to change the resource!?

    In Windows, a second Alt+S positions the cursor in the Search box.

    Yeah, I wish more parameter could be defined by typing instead of having to click on the drop downs (ie. changing from all passages to NT or OT only or changing from Basic to Bible or defining which tag I want to limit my search to).

    BUT! You are correct. No more schizophrenic hopping search tab when I do Alt+S. If I leave it in the middle pane and do the shortcut twice it puts the cursor right where it needs to be. Excellent solution! Thanks very much.
