Logos4Setup.exe doesn't open!

Now you see, I've seen all kinds of FAQs addressing Logos not starting when it's already installed, but I can't even install it.

When I click "Run Logos4setup.exe" in autoplay or even try to do it from My computer all that pops up is a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library window which says:

Runtime error! This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.

Then it tells me to contact the support team...well...

So I contacted the guy who helps here in South Africa and he said that I need to update things and restart. It just so happens that I had already done that before he had a chance to reply. The only thing I can think of is that either the disk I got is faulty or that a program I'm running is incompatible.

I'm not sure what other information to provide, I'm blocked at every turn and there's nothing addressing my problem. I mean I can't even install it!

So what now?

Can you try downloading the installation program directly from here, saving it somewhere on your hard disk, and then running it: http://downloads.logos.com/LBS4/LDLS4Installer/Logos4Setup.exe.

Post back here if that doesn't work.

Well, I got the installer but as soon as I clicked that to Run it gave me the same window error. So it's my computer then? What must I do to fix it? System restore?

Try deleting the Install folder in the Logos 4 directory and trying again. What version of Windows are you using?

If you are running Vista or Windows 7, you should find that Install folder in

C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Logos 4

If you're on XP, it will be in

C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Local Settings\Application Data\Logos4

If that doesn't solve your problem, you'll need to call Logos Tech Support and have them help you.

That error is likely caused by a faulty NET framework. Try repairing .NET Framework 3.5 SP 1 from Add/Remove Programs, or
uninstall and reinstall.

The procedure is quite involoved http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923100/ and contacting Tech Support should confirm the need.

In Vista 32 bit, I just right clicked and chose "Run as Administrator." That seems to work.
