More Works of Jonathan Edwards vs Works of JE?
With the 50% off Yale sale this month I’m seriously considering getting some Edwards works. I found the More Works of Jonathan Edwards has a massive amount of Edwards’ sermons. I’m wondering if it simply contains all the sermons in the 41 volume Yale Works of Jonathan Edwards set. Does anyone know if the two sets are distinct, or if the sets differ? As far as the sermons go it looks like they are the same - if I’m judging just by the first few entries. However I’d love to learn from someone who owns both sets.

Liam If you look at the product page for More Works it says it is contained within the 41 volume set as well as some other collections including Reformed Logos 8 Legacy Libraries as well as Logos 9 libraries.

Also would love to know if the sermon tool in the passage guide works with the sermons In the More Works of JE set.

To my knowledge, Yale did not print the complete works of Jonathan Edwards. The second collection represents the unpublished part of his work. So you would need both to be complete.

Ok I bit, and have been able to poke around the contents a little. Looks like this does contain most of the sermons from the 41 volume set. However I have found several sermons that are included in the 41 volumes, that are not included in this set (However, just to confuse you more, the 41 volume set available thru Logos does include the ‘More Works of JE as a bonus - but it is not native to the 41 volumes). I also think I found that the MWJE set contains a total of more sermons (268(ish) to 180(ish)), so it must contain material not published in the 41 volumes as well. Confused yet?

The Yale edition of Jonathan Edwards is 26 volumes, that is all they printed. But Logos was able to get the material Yale did not publish in paper and created an additional 2 volumes of material (about 7,000 pages of material) but without page numbers since they were never published.
The titles for this are "Jonathan Edwards Sermons" and Jonathan Edwards Documents, both by the Jonathan Edwards Center at Yale University. Logos sells this as 2 Volumes but calls them 15 volumes. There should be no duplication between the original 26 volumes and the additional 2 supplementary volumes called More Works of Jonathan Edwards.
More Works of Jonathan Edwards, Yale Edition (15 vols.) | Logos Bible Software
The Works of Jonathan Edwards | WJE (41 vols.) | Logos Bible Software
it looks like Logos retired the original 26 published volumes and now only sell the 41 volume set

Bobby I had thought the same as you say before looking at the table of contents. However the sermons in the table of contents are largely the same as those in the sermon volumes between volume 10 & 22. However there’s also some variation. They don’t match exactly - just mostly. Check out the tables of contents and compare.

Forgive the slight off-topic, but if you buying some WJEs I'm sure this will interest you...
At the Jonathan Edwards Conference in the fall of 2019, they made an announcement that another collection of Jonathan Edwards documents had been located when one of the Edwards descendants (older lady) contacted them about giving them to the school. They made an announcement and the lady spoke for a few minutes. It was cool to hear Dr Minkema (the JECenter director) talk about getting the call and driving the next day to see them.
I think the online WJE is at volume 72 or 73 at the moment. He said that as they edit them and transcribe them that they'll be added to the online WJE site. Will be neat to see what else turns up when they publish them.
