Sermon Illustrations

Have been using Logos for a while now. Have Logos 6

Love the commentary and text search but have yet to figure out how to find sermon illustrations.

Example. I will research 1 John 3:11-24 - love one another.

Research commentaries

Then look over the illustration section of the initial search. Is this section all that there is? Is there a way to search illustrations by topic...ie LOVE or whatever?

Any help would be apprec!!

Hi Lawrence, welcome to the forums! Do stick around, as there's a lot to learn from the many "power users" on here!

I'm sure other users will chime in with more sophisticated ways to search for sermon illustrations, however one straight forward way is to run a Passage Guide for your chosen verse / passage, and then click on the "Illustrations" section. See below for an example:

You could - for example - use a Topic Guide

Hi Lawrence. Here's my screen snapshot where I searched for "hope" in my Illustrations and Quotes resources. Click on the search icon in the upper left of your Logos home page. Enter the search term and specify the scope of the resources you want searched (I changed the scope "Everything" to "Illustrations and Quotes." Click the image to see it enlarged....

You could also consider making a "Sermon Illustrations" collection from your library resources, and doing a search of that collection to narrow down the focus of your search to sermon illustrations:

(Forgive me if you know how to already do this!)

It is still offered by Logos (it is a Logos resource) at https://www.logos.com/product/7405/1000-illustrations-for-preaching-and-teaching

When searching for it on Logos.com you need to include the "," in the number:

1,000 illustrations will find it
1000 illustrations will not
