Kyle,

The newly released Tyndale commentary on Hosea has the series "Tyndale Old Testament Commentaries" Whereas all the other 72 volumes are "Tyndale Commentaries".

Help me better understand "Series", "Collections" and Guides:

If I have 2 commentaries in the same series (Tyndale Commentaries) on the same biblical passage (Psalms), will both commentaries show up in the Commentary section of the Passage Guide? If I create a Collection rule that includes series name, will both editions appear in that section of my guide?

    Yes. Yes.

    Yes. Yes.

SineNomine, Thank you for confirming my understanding!

My assumption with series is that If I have a window open with Tyndale Commentaries in the same linkset of my ESV that I am good as long as the scripture is in a book of the Bible where I only have 1 Tyndale Commentary on that text, but If I go to a text where I have 2 commentaries in the series on the same text (e.g. Ephesians - it doesn't know to go to Foulkes 1989 or Bock 2019) or by the same author (E.G. James - it doesn't know to go to Moo 1985 or Moo 2015)

Did I glance at a post in the forum that this is where prioritization may indicate which resource in a series takes priority in a linkset?

It will guess, and it will make the same guess every time.

this is where prioritization may indicate which resource in a series takes priority in a linkset?

I have no reason to believe otherwise. This would be very easy to test to confirm, but I don't have time to do so at the moment.

I try to avoid this uncertainty. Tyndale Commentaries has 24 volumes that have been updated, so I rename their series to Tyndale Originals. So I prioritize the two series only, avoiding the need to prioritize individual volumes (you can switch to the other series via Parallel Resources).

I try to avoid this uncertainty.

I reassigned the revisions into 2 new series - Tyndale OT Commentaries & Tyndale NT Commentaries, then added these new series into my collection rule. I chose to keep the originals in the Tyndale Commentaries series because BestCommentaries.com ranks many of them in the top10, while the revisions have not stood the test of time yet. In my opinion revisions are often (not always) better, so I wait for them to stand on their own.

Fair enough.  My Tyndale Originals (slightly ambiguous name because it doesn't contain all the originals) are still readily accessible, though.
